Verbessert DNS

Copy a domain's DNS records when you choose to

Moving a domain to Magpie DNS no longer copies its records by itself: choose Copy records, add them yourself, or both.

After Host DNS with Magpie, the domain's page now starts with an empty list of records and two buttons: Copy records, which copies them from the domain's current DNS provider, and Add record. Nothing is copied until you choose it.

  • You can add records while a copy runs. A copied record that would clash with one you added is left out.
  • Stop copying stops a copy and removes the records it copied.
  • Remove copied records removes every copied record you have not edited, and Undo puts them back.
  • A list of steps shows where the move is: add or copy the records, confirm them, change the nameservers, and Magpie answers for the domain.
  • Keep current DNS provider, in the domain's More menu, goes back while you are setting up.

The choice between hosting DNS with Magpie and keeping the current provider now says what each one does, and the list of domains offers Add domain when it is empty. If the nameservers change before the records are confirmed and nothing was copied, Magpie copies the records first, so the domain's other names keep working. The same applies on a Mail domain's page.
