While Calendar is open, Magpie checks your Google Calendar once a minute and updates the Google events it shows. Events added, moved or deleted in Google appear without reloading the page.
It checks every five minutes after fifteen minutes without using the page, and stops after an hour, or while the tab is hidden. It checks again as soon as you return. The Calendar is redrawn only when a Google event changed, and the item you had selected stays selected.
