An open Magpie tab now plays a short sound when someone sends you a direct message, or writes in one of your groups or in Magpie support. Team channels and message requests do not play it, and neither does a message in the conversation you are looking at.
To turn the sound off, switch off Sound for new messages in Account settings. To mute one person, select their name in Team chat and choose Mute sound; their messages still show the unread dot. Muted people in Account settings lists everyone you have muted, with Unmute beside each.
The unread dot on your avatar now appears and clears while a page is open, on every page, instead of only when a page loads. Team chat also no longer marks a conversation read while its tab is hidden, so a message that arrives then keeps the dot until you look.
