On the front page, each tool in the list has a socket in its corner. Cables run from one tool to another: a plug travels to the far socket, the cable hangs and settles, stays a while, then moves to a third tool or leaves. Up to three cables hang at once, chosen among the tools on screen.
The cables sit over the list and do not get in the way of opening a tool. Nothing moves while the list is off screen or the tab is hidden. With reduced motion turned on in the system settings, two cables hang still instead.
