The tools that add to an Idea Workspace are now in a rail down the left of the canvas, each with its name, instead of in the bar at the top of the page. That bar keeps Share, Export and Import JSON. On a phone the tools are a strip along the bottom of the screen. Select a tool to add its item in view, or drag it onto the canvas to add it where you drop it. Each tool has a key: N for a note, T for a to-do list, K for a link, I for an image, C for a comment, O for a column and L for a line.
The canvas no longer has edges. Drag empty canvas to move it, as you would a sheet of paper, or hold Shift and drag to select every item a box touches. A scroll wheel, a trackpad, the arrow keys, and holding Space while you drag also move it. Fit now lines every item up with the top left of the window.
Tidy up lines items up with each other and with the dots on the canvas, and one Undo puts them all back. While you drag an item, it snaps into line with the items near it, and a red line shows what it lines up with; hold Alt to place it freely. Undo is also a button in the rail, so it works without a keyboard.
Line now waits for its two ends: drag from one item to another, or select one item and then the other. On a phone or tablet, one finger moves an item or the canvas, two fingers move and zoom the canvas, and a double tap writes a note or opens an item's text for editing.
