Appearance now has twelve settings, and a preview that shows your real page as you change them.
There are sixteen palettes instead of five, in light and dark. Backgrounds can be a flat colour, a fade, a corner glow, an aurora, a dot or line grid, diagonal stripes, fine grain, or a vignette - and you can set your own background colour under any of them. Links can sit in a panel, an outline, a raised card, frosted glass, a full-height sheet, or in no container at all, which is the default: the column sits straight on the background, so the background is what the page looks like.
Also new: two-across and compact layouts, six typefaces, three more button styles (Glass, Hard shadow, and Text only, which drops the button entirely), square and pill corners, a banner crop for your picture, a header that reads beside the picture rather than under it, and real icons for your social profiles.
None of the combinations can make a page unreadable. Palettes are checked pairings, background patterns are mixed from your palette and accent rather than from fixed colours, and text printed on a colour you chose switches to black or white to suit it - which also fixes buttons using a pale accent, where the label used to be white on a light background.
Every one of these settings can be set by pasting JSON too, so a whole page can still be designed in one step.
