Open a podcast in the app and choose Record.
Solo records takes into an episode draft. Play a take back or remove it, edit the title and description where they are shown, and choose Publish Episode to mix the takes into the episode. Drafts are listed on the podcast, and a draft started in a browser can be continued in the app.
With other people creates a recording session. Share the invite link; guests can join in a browser or open the link in the app. The session works as it does on the website: everyone marks themselves ready, the host starts, pauses and stops the take, and you can talk to each other throughout. Each phone records its own microphone and uploads it in short pieces while you record, keeping every piece on the phone until Magpie has it. Recording continues when the screen locks, and audio from a take that was interrupted uploads when you open the session again.
After a take, download all tracks as a ZIP through the share sheet, or open Listen and adjust to play the combined recording, move a track earlier or later, change volume, mute, trim, prepare combined MP3 or WAV exports, and use the mix as an episode.
On iPhone and iPad the recording is a full-quality WAV, about 6 MB of upload a minute; on Android it is AAC, about 1 MB a minute. Native device testing is still required.
