New Stats

Magpie's numbers are now public

A new page shows how many people use Magpie, how many pay for it, and every payment as it arrives.

The stats page is at /stats. It shows how many people have a Magpie account, how many pay for Pro, monthly recurring revenue, the annual run rate, the total received, and a list of every payment as it comes in.

The page is public, but the figures are not. Signed out, every number is replaced with X characters and blurred, and the payment list shows no notes and no names. Nothing real is sent to the page at all, so there is nothing to find by reading its source. Sign in and the numbers are there.

Payments are grouped by day, with the date written once and each payment carrying its own time in the time zone set on your account. Every line is a sentence - "$7.99 came in for a monthly renewal." - and a note appears underneath it.

If you pay for Pro you can put a note on your line. Open Billing and edit "Note on the stats page". A monthly payment gets 12 characters, a yearly one gets 100. Your name is shown on the line only while there is a note on it, so a payment with nothing written against it identifies nobody.

Paying monthly means each renewal is a new payment with its own empty note, so there is a fresh one to write each month. Clearing a note removes it and your name from the line.
