Gift cards and store credit in Store

Stores can sell gift cards, issue store credit, refund to store credit, and take gift card codes at checkout.

Added gift cards to Store. A gift card product sells chosen amounts, and optionally an amount the buyer types within a range you set. The buyer sends it by email to someone else, on a date they choose, or to themselves. Each card has its own code.

Buyers enter a gift card code in their cart. The card pays after discounts, and the rest is paid on Stripe's page; when the card covers the whole order there is no payment page. A checkout holds the amount on the card and gives it back if the checkout ends unpaid. Buyers can check a balance on the Store's gift card page.

Store › Discounts › Gift cards lists every card with its balance and what the Store owes on them, with a CSV export. Issue store credit or a card you give away by hand, adjust a balance, disable a card, or record a cash-out. When you refund an order, choose to refund to store credit; the part of an order paid with a gift card goes back to that card first.

A bought gift card and store credit never expire and have no fees. Accounting records cards sold under Customer credits until they are spent. A Store that calculates tax with Stripe Tax does not take gift cards at checkout yet.
