Clients book a cut or a colour at home, at times you are free.

Appointments gives you a booking page with your cuts and colours as services. A cut and blow-dry and a root colour each have their own length and price. The service says you come to them, and clients book without signing up first.

A buffer after each visit keeps time free to drive to the next client. A wedding morning or a care home day on your calendar is not offered. A confirmation email lets the client move or cancel.

Thistle Mobile Hair’s public booking page: a root colour and cut, two and a half hours at the client’s home, its price, and the free times to book it.

A new client's hair history and any dye reaction arrive before the first visit.

Forms builds your new client form. It asks about colour in the last year, the hair's length and how to get in. The client answers from a link, without signing up first.

A question about a past reaction to dye can appear only after Yes. A Date question asks when their last skin test was. Each response is emailed to you and kept in one list.

Thistle Mobile Hair’s new client form in the builder: the client’s name and email, colour in the last year, a past reaction to hair dye, the date of the last skin test, the hair’s length, the address, how to get in and a photo of the hair now.

Each client's colour formula stays pinned at the top of their page.

Contacts keeps each client with their address. A pinned note holds the shades, the developer and the processing time. A dated note after each visit records what changed. Their page lists every booking and every invoice.

A follow-up is a dated To-do with a reason, such as roots due in five weeks. Follow-ups lists every open one as Overdue, Today or Upcoming. A tag with a care home's name keeps its residents together.

Thistle Mobile Hair’s follow-ups: roots due five weeks on, regulars to rebook, a skin test before a first colour and a bride’s trial, grouped as Overdue, Today and Upcoming with the day each is due.

You bill the visit at the end, and the client pays by card on their phone.

Invoicing bills each visit from the client's contact. A travel fee or a bottle of shampoo is its own line, with your tax rate. Sending it emails the PDF with a Pay online button. The payment link can also go by text.

Card payments go to your own Stripe account, with no Magpie fee. Cash at the door is recorded by hand. A care home resident's visit can be billed to the family member who pays.

Thistle Mobile Hair’s draft invoice to Helen Park: a root colour and cut, a travel fee and a bottle of shampoo as its lines, due on the day and payable by card from the email.

A bride chooses her party's hair, signs online and pays the deposit.

Proposals sets out the bride's hair, each bridesmaid and the mother of the bride as lines. The bride can change the number of bridesmaids, and the total follows. A trial and an early start are options she adds.

She signs on the page and pays the deposit by card. You see when the proposal is opened. The balance is invoiced before the wedding.

A bridal hair proposal from Thistle Mobile Hair for Chloe Bennett, with the cover, the list of contents, the bridal party package chosen and the total in a bar at the foot of the screen.

Every receipt for colour, foils and fuel is photographed at the till.

Expenses keeps each receipt, photographed on your phone. A receipt can wait in Receipt Inbox until you add its details. Categories such as Colour, Fuel and Parking total what the month cost.

An expense can belong to a client, such as a hairpiece ordered for a bride. It goes on her invoice as a line.

Six more areas cover the colour in the car, your days, your posts and the books.

A new client goes from their form to their next root colour.

Each step starts from what the one before it made.

  1. The form

The client sends their hair history and their last skin test date on your Form.

  2. The booking

They book a root colour on your page, with time kept to drive there.

  3. The visit

Afterwards, a dated note on their contact records the formula you used.

  4. The bill

The colour, the travel fee and the shampoo are the invoice's lines, paid by card.

  5. The follow-up

A follow-up five weeks on reminds you to offer the next root colour.

  6. The books

The invoice, the payment and the receipt for the colour are in the books.

Setting up takes five steps.

  1. Set up your booking page

You choose Salon or barber, add your cuts and colours, and set a buffer to drive. Help: Set up Appointments.

  2. Build your new client form

You add the questions about the client's hair, a dye reaction and the skin test. Help: Build, publish, and share a form.

  3. Add your regulars

You add each client with their address, and pin their colour formula. Help: Keep a contact list.

  4. Save your bridal rates

You add the bride, a bridesmaid and the trial to your price list. Help: Proposal starters, saved sections and the price list.

  5. Connect Stripe

You connect your Stripe account, so clients can pay by card. Help: Connect Stripe to receive money.

Questions mobile hairdressers ask

Can clients book a cut at home online instead of texting me?

Yes. Your booking page lists your cuts and colours with their length and price. A client picks a day and a time your hours leave free. They enter a name and an email address. They book without signing up first, and get a confirmation email.

Can I price a cut, a blow-dry and a full head of colour differently?

Yes. Each service has its own length and price. A 45-minute cut and a two-and-a-half-hour full head of colour are two services. The length can include the colour's processing time. A service can be switched off for a while without losing its bookings.

I am a mobile barber. Can clients book a cut and a beard trim?

Yes. Choosing Salon or barber starts you with Haircut, Haircut + Beard and Beard Trim. Each has its own length and price, which you can change. A skin fade or a hot towel shave can be a service of its own.

Can I keep time to drive between clients?

Yes. Each service can have a buffer before and after it, such as 20 minutes to drive. Clients see only times when the visit and its buffer fit your hours. Two visits are never booked back to back without it.

Can I say which areas I cover, and charge more further out?

Yes. The booking page's description and each service's location can name the areas you cover. Clients see the location once they choose a service, and in their confirmation. A travel fee for a longer drive is a line on that client's invoice.

Can I stop clients booking me for the same morning?

Yes. A minimum notice sets how soon before a start time a visit can still be booked. A maximum range sets how far ahead. Both are in the booking rules every booking follows.

Can a client move or cancel their appointment themselves?

Yes. The confirmation email has a link to choose another free time or to cancel. Once the notice you set has begun, the link asks them to contact you instead.

Will a wedding morning or a care home day block my booking page?

Yes. A time is offered only when your calendar is free. An event you put in Calendar takes that time off the page. Each care home day or wedding is an event of its own.

Can I book a regular who rings me?

Yes. New appointment books a visit for a client who calls. You choose the service, a day and a time the booking page would offer. The client gets the same confirmation email, with the link to move or cancel.

Can new clients tell me about their hair before the first visit?

Yes. Your new client form asks about past colour, the hair's length and how to get in. A File question takes a photo of their hair now, up to 10 MB. Each response is emailed to you and kept in one list. The client answers from a link, without signing up first.

Can the form ask about a dye reaction and a skin test?

Yes. A Yes/No question asks whether they have reacted to hair dye. A question about the reaction can appear only after Yes. A Date question asks when their last skin test was. Only the people who can see the responses read the answers.

Where do I keep each client's colour formula?

On their contact. A pinned note at the top holds the shades, the developer and the processing time. A dated note after each visit records what you changed. Their page lists every visit, with whether it was completed, cancelled or a no-show.

Can I remind myself to rebook a regular in five or six weeks?

Yes. A follow-up on the client's contact has a date and a reason, such as Roots due. It is a To-do with the usual reminders. Follow-ups lists every open one as Overdue, Today or Upcoming. The contacts list shows each client's next follow-up date.

Can I keep my care home residents together?

Yes. A tag with the care home's name goes on each resident's contact. Choosing that tag lists them on their own. Each resident keeps their own notes, visits and invoices.

Who do I bill for a care home resident?

You bill whoever pays. An invoice goes to the resident's contact, or to the family member who pays. A home that pays for its residents can get one invoice, with a line for each.

How do clients pay me at the end of the appointment?

You send the invoice from the client's contact, and its email has a Pay online button. The invoice's page shows the payment link, so you can text it too. The client pays by card on their own phone, into your own Stripe account. Cash is recorded on the invoice by hand.

Can I put the shampoo I sold on the same bill?

Yes. Each thing is a line: the cut, the colour and the shampoo you sold. Each line uses one of your named tax rates, such as HST, or no tax. Totals update as you type.

What does Magpie take from a card payment?

Magpie adds no fee. Stripe's processing fee is taken from each payment. The rest goes to your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays it out to your bank.

How do I quote a bride and her bridesmaids?

You send a proposal with a line for the bride and one for the bridesmaids. Each is at your rate per person. The bride can change the number of bridesmaids, and the total follows. A trial and an early start can be options she adds. She chooses, signs on the page and pays the deposit by card.

Can I take a deposit to hold a wedding date?

Yes. The proposal's payment schedule starts with a deposit, invoiced when the bride accepts. She pays it by card into your own Stripe account. The balance is invoiced when you bill it, such as two weeks before.

Can a bride book her hair trial online?

Yes. A bridal hair trial is a service on your booking page, with its length and price. The bride picks a free time and gets a confirmation email. The trial is listed on her contact, beside her proposal.

Can I keep receipts for colour, foils and fuel without paper?

Yes. You photograph each receipt on your phone, up to 10 MB each. Receipt Inbox holds receipts you photograph first and enter later. Totals export as CSV, with the receipts as a ZIP file.

Can I keep track of the colour I carry in the car?

Yes. Inventory counts each shade, the developer and the foils, in the car and at home. Each place has its own count, and moving stock between them is recorded. An item below the minimum you set is listed as running low.

Can clients buy their shampoo from me between visits?

Yes. Store sells your products online, each with its own stock. Local delivery goes to the postal codes you list, on the days you choose. Clients pay by card into your own Stripe account.

Can I post photos of a finished colour?

Yes. Social Media schedules posts to Bluesky, Mastodon and LinkedIn at the time you choose. For Instagram, Magpie emails a reminder, and the posting page opens your phone's share sheet. Each photo is cropped to Instagram's shapes around a point you set.

Can I see what I earned this month?

Yes. Accounting adds each invoice as Services income, each payment, and each expense under its category. A Profit and loss report shows income against spending for the month.

Can I run it from my phone between clients?

Yes. The website works on a phone, for the day's visits, a client's contact or a receipt.

Can a second hairdresser take bookings too?

Yes. Each hairdresser has their own weekly hours and calendar. Clients choose a hairdresser by name, or anyone available. A hairdresser who takes bookings is a member of your team.
