Use the image library
Upload images once to Your images and use them across Magpie, from websites and books to invoices and social posts.
The image library, Your images, stores pictures for reuse across Magpie. Open the account menu and choose Your images to see everything in it. It shows a grid of thumbnails, the same tiles as the image picker, with each image's filename, format, size and dimensions. Open an image to see it larger with its upload date, then Copy address, Download the original, Edit it in Image Converter, Use in Social to start a Social Media post with it, or Delete it. An edited result is saved as a new image; the source remains available at its existing address.
To add images on Your images, drop them on the box at the top of the page, paste one, or click the box to choose files. Dropping images from your computer anywhere on the page uploads them too. The library takes JPG, PNG, GIF and WebP files, and HEIC or HEIF photos such as those from an iPhone: a HEIC photo is converted to a JPEG when it is uploaded, wherever the upload happens, and the JPEG is what the library stores. A very large HEIC photo cannot be converted.
Wherever the picker appears, both routes are open: choose an image you already have, or upload one from your computer. An image uploaded through a picker joins the library, so it is available to every other tool afterwards.
The picker is how a picture is chosen across the website, including your profile picture, an invoice logo, podcast artwork, a Supporters cover, a book cover, a Client Portal logo, and pictures in Documents, Books and PDF Editor. A picture shown to people who are not signed in, such as an invoice logo or podcast artwork, is copied from the library when you choose it.
Uploading a file that is already in your library does not store a second copy: Magpie uses the image you already have. In a picker that image is selected and marked Already in your library, and on Your images a message says it is already there. A file you deleted from the library is stored again.
Where a picker takes several images, an image you upload there is marked Uploaded and selected for you, and the bottom of the picker says how many were uploaded. While any image is selected, the row at the top shows how many, Clear to unselect them, Upload more, and the button that adds them.
Magpie shows smaller display and thumbnail versions of an image and keeps the original. Deleting an image can break places that still refer to its address; check its uses before removing it.
The library belongs to your account rather than to a team, so the same images are available whichever team you are working in. Storage counts toward your plan allowance: Your images shows the amount used, and the Billing page gives the limit. Reusing an existing image avoids another upload; it does not copy the file for each page.
Search finds images by name, and the Tag filter shows images with one tag. Select images with the checkbox on each tile, Select this page, or select every image matching the current search and filter. The selection is kept while paging through the list and cleared by a new search. Add tags, Download as ZIP and Delete selected act on the selection. Create PDF opens the selected images on the current page in PDF Editor's Images to PDF tool, one page for each image. Add tags opens a drawer: enter one or more tags separated by commas, or choose from the tags you already have, and they are added to the selected images; a name that is not a tag yet becomes one.
Use alternative text in the destination area when the image communicates information. File names are not a substitute for that description.
The native app can filter the library by JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP and sort it by newest, oldest, filename or file size. Quick Transfer is available from Your images on the website. It moves temporary files between devices; see Move files between devices with Quick Transfer.
If an upload is refused, check that the file is an image, is not empty, and that storage is available. For a valid upload that never finishes processing, Contact support.
