Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? on RSS Reader, or choose the ? button beside the display choices, to see the list.

The letter keys work anywhere on the page except while you are typing in a field. Enter opens an entry only when no button or link has focus; on a button or link, Enter uses that control.

When an entry is marked read

An entry is marked read when you open it, move to it with j or k, choose a link in it, or open its original page. In Preview and Expanded, an entry is also marked read when you pause with its heading near the top of the window; scrolling past it does not mark it read. In Compact, scrolling never marks an entry read.

Choose Mark unread on an entry, or press m, to make it unread again. In the Unread view, an entry you open stays on the page so it does not disappear while you read it; choosing Mark read or pressing m removes it from that view.

Mark everything read

The page-bar button names the number of unread entries in the current view, such as Mark 12 entries read. With one subscription selected, it applies to that subscription only. A confirmation names the scope before anything changes. You can mark single entries unread again from All.

Display and pages

All includes read and unread entries; Unread shows only unread ones. Selecting a subscription narrows the same timeline to it.

• Compact shows each entry's title, subscription and date; open it to read it and to see its buttons.
• Preview shows the start of each entry, with Show full entry for a long one.
• Expanded shows every entry in full.

Older entries and Newer entries, at the end of the timeline, move between its pages.

Removing a subscription is different from marking it read: it removes the subscription and its entries from RSS Reader (see Follow feeds and websites in RSS Reader).
