Public pages and share links
Which Magpie pages people outside your team can open, and which links work for anyone who has them.
Most of what you make in Magpie is visible only to you or to your team. The pages below are made for other people to open, most of them without a Magpie account. Each area decides whether its page is public; the linked article says how to publish it, share it or turn it off.
Pages at an address you choose
These addresses are made from your handle or from a name you give the page. Your own address, made from your handle, is the one Meetings shows. Anyone who knows an address can open the page once it is published or made public.
| Page | Address | Article |
|---|---|---|
| Meeting page | your address | Set up and share your meeting page |
| Public calendar | your address, then /calendar |
Create public and private calendar events |
| Podcast and its RSS feed | your address, then /podcast; a team's podcast at the team's public name |

Your handle does not publish anything by itself: a book, calendar event, board, podcast or Store is public only when its own setting says so. A Form that requires a Magpie sign-in is open only to signed-in people. A Store that is not published yet can be shown to others with its preview password.
Links that work for anyone who has them
These addresses contain a long random code instead of a name. They are not listed anywhere, but anyone who has the link can open the page, usually without signing in. A link that is forwarded works for whoever receives it.
| Page | Article |
|---|---|
| A Document shared by link | Write documents |
| A presentation's viewer link | Create, present, and share a presentation |
| A design prototype link | Build and share a Prototype |
| A screen recording's share link | Record your screen |
| A Flashcards deck shared by link | Study with Flashcards |
| A calendar event set to anyone with the link | Create public and private calendar events |
| A Bookmarks collection set to Unlisted or Public | Import, export and share Bookmarks |
| A Secure Files share link | Share a file with a secure link |
| A quick transfer | Move files between devices with Quick Transfer |
| A proposal sent to a client | Send a proposal |
| A signing request | Send documents for signature |
| An invoice's payment page | Record invoice payments and refunds |
| A Store order page and its download links | Manage Store orders, fulfillment, and refunds |
| A link to change or cancel an appointment | Manage customer appointments |
| A Video Chat guest link | Start or join a video call |
An invoice's payment page needs no sign-in. After paying, the payer gets a receipt by email and a record of the payment in a Magpie account for the address they gave when they paid.
A proposal or a signing request can also ask for an access code that you give the recipient separately; see those articles. A Client Portal is different: each client signs in to it with a link emailed to them; see Create a Client Portal.
Send these links only to the people they are for. Order and download links show a customer's order and files, and anyone with a signing link can sign as the person it was sent to unless it asks for an access code.
When a page stops being public
Unpublishing a page, making it private or turning its link off stops new visits. It cannot take back copies people already downloaded or saved. While something is in Trash, its public addresses stop working. Changing your handle, or the name in a page's address, can break links to the old address.
To check what a visitor sees, open the address in a private browser window where you are not signed in.
If a page shows more than its setting allows, Contact support.
