Coaching programs
Build a program once, start each client on it, and give clients already on it the changes you make later.
A program is what a client follows. Starting a client on it copies its goals, actions, habits and check-ins into their coaching, and its exercises, resources and messages reach the client on its schedule.
Build a program
Choose New program on the Programs page and name it. The program opens, and you add to it there:
- Goals are proposed to each client when they start, to agree in a session. Open a goal to choose how it is measured.
- Stages hold the actions. Each action is for the client or the coach and is due a number of days after the client's start: day 0 is the day their coaching starts.
- Habits and Check-ins are copied to each client as they are. A check-in opens in each client's own time zone.
- Schedule holds exercises and resources from your library, and messages from the lead coach. Add to schedule puts one on the first day; Change when… (or Edit message…) on its row sets when it is released: on a day of the program, when a stage starts, before or after a numbered session, a number of days after another item is done, or only when a coach releases it. An exercise can also have a number of days to answer it.
The program's length, session plan (sessions included, how long each is, how often, and the session type), price, payment and agreement are in Edit details… under More. The sessions included, the session type, the price, the payment and the agreement are copied to each client's coaching; see Coach clients for what starting coaching then sends.
To make a program from a client's coaching, choose Save as program… in the More menu on the client's page. Their dates become days from their start, and their progress, answers and what they did stay with them.
You can also import a program written as JSON; see Create a coaching program by pasting JSON.
Show what comes later in Edit details… is on for a new program: clients see the exercises and resources still to come under Coming later on their Coaching page, with when each arrives. Turn it off to show each only once it arrives. A scheduled message is never shown before it is sent.
Duplicate program in More makes a copy with no clients on it. Move to Trash takes the program out of the list; clients on it keep their coaching as it is.
Start a client on a program
When you Add client, choose the program. Their coaching opens as a draft with the program's goals, actions, habits and check-ins, and Still to come lists the schedule. Change anything for this client before you start. When coaching starts, each action's due date is counted from the start date, and the schedule begins.
Items are released at the client's daily email time, so they are in that day's email. While coaching is paused nothing is released, and the days paused move the rest of the schedule later. Release now on a row of Still to come releases an item at once, including one released only by hand.
On the client's page, each goal, action, habit and check-in from the program says so, and says when it was changed for this client.
Change a program clients are on
A change to a program does not change the coaching of clients already on it. When something has changed, Apply changes… appears beside the program's name. It lists what changed and, for each client, what applying it will do. Untick a client to leave their coaching as it is.
For each client, a new item will be added, and released at once if its time has passed. A changed or removed item will change only where the client has not started it and no coach changed it for them; otherwise their copy is kept, and the drawer says why. A goal will change only while it is still proposed. A check-in's new questions will apply from its next occasion, and a habit keeps what was logged.
Pages and cohorts
To let people apply for a program or join it and pay, give it a page; see Coaching program pages. To take a group through it together, see Coaching cohorts.
