Personal and each team can have one newsletter. A team admin starts it from Newsletter with a name and an optional description of what subscribers will get. Members who can edit in the team can then write and send email (see Write, test, schedule, and send newsletter email).

The Newsletter page shows whether the newsletter is taking signups, the number of active subscribers, emails sent and copies delivered, and the Signup page address to copy and share. Below are Not sent yet (drafts and email waiting to go out) and Sent.

The signup page and archive

The newsletter's public address is its signup page: its name, its description and a box to subscribe. When Web copies is on, Past emails on the same page lists sent email, and each one has a public page with a Subscribe link.

Public signup uses double opt-in. A submitted address receives a confirmation email and becomes active only after the person opens its link and chooses Yes, subscribe me. The signup page does not reveal whether an address was already on the list.

A Store can also add buyers who tick a box at checkout; see Terms, Newsletter sign-up and reminders at checkout.

Settings

Settings is for team admins. Each value is changed by clicking it.

  • The newsletter: Name (the title on the signup page and the default name email comes from), Description, and Address, the public address. Changing the address breaks links already shared, including those in email already sent.
  • Signups and archive: Active or Paused (a paused newsletter's signup page is hidden), New signups (whether the signup page takes new addresses), and Web copies (a public page for each sent email, and the "view in browser" link inside it).
  • Outgoing email: From name, Reply-to address (left empty, replies go nowhere), and Footer note, added under every email above the unsubscribe link. These describe this newsletter; they do not create a second Magpie account identity.

Pausing a newsletter or closing signups does not delete subscribers. Turning off web copies hides the browser copies; it cannot recall email already delivered.

In the native app, open Newsletter settings from the Newsletter action menu. It shows the current value of each setting. Choose a row to edit text, or change the status and switches directly. Changing the public address asks for confirmation because existing links will stop working.

If a confirmation email does not arrive, the subscriber should check spam and the address before trying again. For repeated delivery failures across valid addresses, Contact support.
