Abrir en Magpie

A webinar is a talk, a demonstration or a class given online at a set time to the people who registered for it. In Webinars you schedule a webinar, plan it on its own page, and publish it. Publishing will open its registration page, where people register with their name and email address. Magpie will email each of them a confirmation with their own join link and a calendar invitation, then reminders before the start.

At the start, the people running the webinar present on its live page, and attendees watch from their join link, with chat, Q&A, polls, reactions and breakout rooms. The webinar can be recorded, or can play a recording made beforehand. Afterwards, attendees can watch the replay, and the report says who came and what they did. See Host a webinar, Breakout rooms in a webinar and Webinar recordings, replays and reports.

Webinars is in preview and open to Magpie's site administrators. Its registration pages, the links in its emails and attendees' live pages work for everyone. Live webinars run on the site's own media server: until it is set up, the live page says Live webinars are not available on this site.

Who can do what

Each webinar is in Personal or in one team, and cannot be moved to another team. In a team:

  • Members who can open Webinars see the team's webinars and read each one's page. They can use Export JSON.
  • Members with edit access and team admins create webinars, change them, publish, cancel and duplicate them, and open their attendee lists and reports. Attendees' email addresses and answers are shown only to them.
  • The live page is for the members named on the webinar, whatever their role, and for team admins. What each role does there is in Host a webinar.

The people running a webinar

The people running a webinar are listed under Hosts and speakers on its page, each with one role:

  • Host and Co-host: members of the team with edit access who run the webinar. Whoever creates a webinar is its first host, and a webinar always has at least one host.
  • Speaker: someone who presents.
  • Moderator: someone who looks after questions and chat.

Hosts, co-hosts and speakers are listed on the registration page with their job title and bio. A speaker or moderator can be a member of the team or someone outside it. Someone outside the team needs no Magpie account: Magpie will email them a personal link. See Schedule a webinar.

Attendees

Attendees are the people who register, or whom a host adds. They need no Magpie account. Each is emailed a join link of their own, and anyone who has that link can use it as them. How many attendees a webinar can have depends on the plan: see Webinar registration and attendees. What attendees see and receive is in Register for a webinar.

Plans

Every plan can schedule webinars and take registrations. Going live depends on the plan of Personal or the team: on the free plan a webinar cannot go live; Pro includes 4 live webinars a calendar month; the Team plan has no limit.

The Webinars list

Webinars lists the webinars of Personal or the selected team under Upcoming, Drafts, Ended and Cancelled, each with a count. Upcoming lists published webinars, the soonest first. Each row shows when the webinar starts, its length and how many are registered. The search finds a webinar by its title. New webinar is in the page bar.

Webinars settings

Webinars settings holds what a new webinar in Personal or the team starts with. You can then change each webinar's own on its page, and changing a setting will not change webinars that already exist. Team admins change the settings, and in Personal its owner; other members can read them.

  • Reminder the day before, Reminder an hour before and Another reminder: the reminder emails a new webinar will send to registered attendees.
  • Chat, Q&A, Moderate questions and Reactions: the switches a new webinar's During the webinar band starts with.
  • Who can watch the replay: the choice a new webinar's After the webinar band starts with.
  • Sender name: the name every webinar email from Personal or the team comes from, followed by "via Magpie". It applies to every webinar, including those that already exist. Left empty, it is the team's name, or in Personal your name.
  • Confirmation message, Reminder message, Cancellation message and Follow-up message: the text a new webinar's emails start with. A webinar whose own message is empty will use the one in Webinars settings, and a message left empty in Webinars settings will use the built-in one.
