Connect Google Calendar
Show Google events on Calendar, choose which Personal and team calendars are added to Google, block busy times, and create Google Meet links.
Open Integrations (under Meetings) and choose Connect in the Google Calendar section. Google asks you to allow calendar access, then returns you to Integrations. Magpie uses your primary Google calendar. The connection belongs to your account, not to Personal or a team.
Busy times
While Google Calendar is connected, times that are busy in your primary Google calendar cannot be chosen on your meeting page. The Busy times row says Always on: there is no switch for it.
Google events on Calendar
Show Google events on Calendar shows your Google events on your Personal Calendar with their own marker. Only you see them. They are read-only in Magpie; selecting one opens it in Google Calendar. They never appear on a team Calendar, and events you declined in Google are left out. While Calendar is open, changes made in Google appear within about a minute without reloading. The switch is on when you connect.
Magpie events in Google Calendar
Calendars added to Google Calendar opens a page listing Personal and each team you belong to. For each one, choose Not added or All events; a team also offers Only events I'm going to, which covers events you answered Going to and events you created. Personal starts as All events and teams start as Not added.
Events from the calendars you choose are added to your primary Google calendar within about a minute, including upcoming events that already exist. Changing or deleting an event in Magpie changes or deletes its Google copy. Choosing Not added, leaving a team, or a team being archived removes that calendar's upcoming events from Google Calendar; past events stay. If you delete a copy in Google Calendar, Magpie will not add it again. Changes made to a copy in Google do not change the event in Magpie.
Each person's copy follows what Magpie shows them. A team event you can see only as busy is added as "Busy", and a title-only event is added without its description or location. Copies are not shared with other people and send no invitations.
Magpie's own copies of meetings and Calendar events do not appear twice on Calendar.
Meetings in Google Calendar
Add new meetings to Google Calendar adds each new meeting to Google Calendar with the attendee invited. Rescheduling the meeting moves its Google event, and cancelling it removes the Google event. Turning the switch off does not stop busy times blocking your meeting page, and does not remove Google events already added.
When Zoom is not connected, a new meeting added to Google Calendar gets a Google Meet link, shown on the meeting's page as Join call. When Zoom is connected, Zoom supplies the call link and no Meet link is created; the meeting is still added to Google Calendar. See Connect Zoom.
Disconnect or reconnect
Disconnect stops Magpie reading your Google calendar, adding events to it and checking it for busy times. Events already in Google Calendar stay there. Calendar settings shows whether Google Calendar is connected and links to Integrations.
If Google permission expires or is removed, Integrations shows Reconnect required with Reconnect Google Calendar, and Calendar says Google events cannot be shown. Google busy times do not block meeting choices until you reconnect and allow calendar access again.
If a meeting and its Google event still differ after reconnecting, Contact support.
