E-Signatures
Upload a PDF, place each signer's fields and send it to be signed by email.
A signature request is one PDF sent to one or more people to sign. You add the signers by email address, place their fields on the pages, and choose the order they sign in, when the request expires and how often they are reminded. Each signer will receive a link of their own and will not need a Magpie account.

New request takes a PDF of up to 25 MB and 500 pages. The uploaded file is kept unchanged as the original. Password-protected PDFs, and files that cannot be read as a PDF, are refused.
- Prepared in PDF Editor
- To remove or rotate pages, fill in details or redact before sending, open the PDF in PDF Editor and choose Send for signature. The request will start with the edited file.
- From a starter
- Browse starters opens a draft with a saved document whose signer roles and fields are already placed.
- From an agreement
- Agreements makes the request from a filled-in standard agreement, with each party as a signer and a field on each of their signature and date lines.
Signers
Add each signer by email address. Suggestions come from Contacts, and a signer whose address belongs to a contact is linked to it.
- Name
- Optional. Without one, the contact's name is used, or the part of the address before the @.
- Role
- Optional, such as Client or Contractor. The certificate of completion shows it beside the signer's name.
- Access code
- A code the signer enters before the document opens. It is not in the email, so give it to the signer another way. Repeated wrong codes make the signer wait before trying again.
Fields
Place fields shows the pages. Choose a signer and a field type, and the field is added to the page in view, to drag into place and resize. Each signer's fields are outlined in their own colour, which is not added to the signed PDF.
- Signature and Initials
- The signer draws with a mouse, finger or stylus, or types their name, and adopts it once for all of their signature fields.
- Date signed
- Filled in with the date the signer finishes, in their browser's time zone.
- Name and Email
- Start with the signer's name and address. The signer can change them.
- Text and Checkbox
- For anything else the signer fills in or ticks. A text field can have a label and a maximum length.
- Required or optional
- A signer cannot finish until each of their required fields is complete. Optional fields have a dashed border.
Signing order, expiry, reminders and the email
- Any order
- Every signer is emailed when the request is sent.
- In the order listed
- The first signer is emailed, then each next signer once the one before has signed. Move up and Move down on a signer's row change the order.
- Expires
- The request stops accepting signatures 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days after it is sent, or never. A new request starts at 30 days.
- Automatic reminders
- Every 3 or 7 days, signers who have not signed are emailed a new link. A new request starts with reminders off.
- Subject and message
- The email signers receive. The subject starts as Please sign: followed by the title. The email names you as the sender, with the team's name on a team's request, and replies go to your email address.
- Related invoice
- Links the request to an invoice in the same team, or in Personal.
Sending and following each signer
Send to signers
Sends once every signer has an email address and at least one field. Selected before then, it sends nothing and shows what each signer still needs.
Each signer's status
The request page shows each signer as Waiting, Sent, Viewed, Signed or Declined.
Send reminder
Emails a new link to everyone who has not signed, or, from a signer's row, to that signer only. A signer can be reminded again 10 minutes after the last reminder.
Change signer
Replaces a signer's name and email address before they sign. Links already sent to them will stop working, and a signer who had been invited will get a new invitation at the new address.
Declined or expired
A decline stops the request for everyone, and you will be emailed the signer's reason, if they gave one. An expired request stops accepting signatures and you will be emailed. Extend sets a new expiry, and the existing links work again.
Correcting a request after it is sent
Once a request is sent, its document, signers and fields stay as they were sent. To send a corrected version, void the request and choose Duplicate request in More: the copy is a new draft with the same document, signers, fields and settings, ready to change and send.
Void request needs a reason, which is recorded in the activity list. The signing links will stop working, and signers who were emailed a link will receive a cancellation email that does not include the reason.
Send your first request.
