E-Signatures

Keep a document with its signer roles and fields as a starter, and start each new signature request from it.

A starter is a document with the people who sign it named by role, such as Client and Contractor, and their fields already placed. It also keeps the signing order, expiry, reminders and email. A request started from it needs only each signer's name and email address before it is sent.

What a starter keeps

Access codes and the related invoice are set on each request, not kept in a starter.

The document
A PDF, under the same limits as a request: up to 25 MB and 500 pages.
Roles
One for each party who signs, such as Client or Contractor. A role can have a default email address, for a party who is always the same person.
Fields
Each role's signature, initials, date, name, email, text and checkbox fields, in place on the pages.
Settings and email
The signing order, the expiry, the automatic reminders, and the subject and message signers receive.

Two ways to make a starter

  1. New starter

On Starters, upload a PDF, add a role for each party under Add a role, place each role's fields and set the other details, as on a request.

  2. Save as starter

In a request's More menu, makes a starter from that request. Each signer becomes a role named after the signer's role, or Signer 1, Signer 2 and so on, and their names and email addresses are left out.

Starting a request from a starter

  1. Use starter

On Starters or on the starter's page, or Browse starters under New request.

  2. A draft opens

With the starter's document, roles, fields, settings and email, and each role's default email address filled in.

  3. Enter the signers and send

Enter each signer's name and email address, then Send to signers. Anything else on the draft, such as the expiry, can still be changed before it is sent.

Changing, archiving and deleting starters

Starters lists the starters of Personal or the selected team, with how many times each has been used and how many roles and fields it has.

Changes apply to later requests
Open a starter to change it. Requests started from it afterwards will use the changes; requests already started keep what they started with.
Duplicate starter
A copy to change for a variation of the same document.
Archive starter
An archived starter is not offered when starting a request. It is listed under Archived starters, and Restore starter brings it back.
Delete
Removes the starter from E-Signatures. Requests already started from it do not change.

Finding requests

Requests lists every request in Personal or the selected team, newest activity first.

Tabs
Draft, Waiting, Completed, Declined, Expired and Voided.
Search
Finds a title, a signer's name or email address, a request ID such as SIG-0042, or a linked contact's name.
Filters
Narrow the list by contact, by sender, or by starter, to see every request started from one.
Contacts
A contact's page lists the documents they signed or declined. After a request is completed, Add to Contacts on a signer's row links the signer to a contact with their email address, or creates one.
The assistant
The assistant on Dashboard finds requests by title or email subject.

Who can see and change requests and starters

Requests and starters belong to Personal or to the selected team. In a team, members with edit access can create and change them, and members with view access can see them and download their files. A team's starters are shared by everyone in the team who can use E-Signatures.
