Presentations
Present a deck in the browser, publish a link anyone can open, and give people access to one deck.
Present opens the deck full screen in a new tab. Publish copies the draft to a published version, and Share by link lets anyone with the link view that version without signing in. Collaborators get view or edit access to one deck, and Export PDF makes a PDF of the draft, one slide per page.
Get started freePresent
Present, in the page bar, opens the current draft in a new tab without editing controls. The deck does not need to be published, and anyone who can open it in Magpie can present it.
Next and previous
The right arrow or Space goes to the next slide and the left arrow to the previous one. Previous and Next buttons are under the slide, with a count such as 3 / 12, and on a phone a swipe moves between slides.
Full screen
Press F or choose Full screen.
Hidden slides and notes
Hidden slides are skipped. Speaker notes are not shown.
Publish, then share by link
Editing changes the deck's draft. Publish copies the draft to the published version, which is what the link shows. After later changes the button reads Publish changes, and Published when nothing has changed since.
Share by link
Once the deck has been published, Share by link in the Share drawer turns on a link anyone can open without signing in. Copy link copies it.
What viewers see
The deck's title and its team's name, then the published slides one at a time, with Previous, Next, a slide count and Full screen. Hidden slides and speaker notes are left out, and nothing on the page edits the deck.
Edits after publishing
They stay in the draft, and viewers keep seeing the published version until someone chooses Publish changes.
Stop sharing
The link will stop working. Turning it on again brings back the same address, so a link you already sent works again.
Search engines
The address contains a random key, and the page asks search engines not to list it.
People with access
A deck belongs to Personal or to a team. Members of its team open it through the team, and edit it when the team gives members edit access; team admins can always edit. To give someone else access, choose Share and enter their handle under People with access.
- Can view
- The person can open the deck in the editor without changing it, read its speaker notes, present it and export a PDF.
- Can edit
- The person can also change slides and notes, publish, and turn the link on or off.
- Someone outside the team
- They will be invited, and the drawer lists them as Invited, waiting, with Cancel. Once they accept, they join the team as a guest who can open this deck and nothing else in the team. Guests are counted per team and per Personal: 10 on the free plan and 100 on Pro and the Team plan.
- Adding and removing people
- Only people who can edit the deck through its team add or remove people. Removing someone who has nothing else in the team also removes them from the team, and the confirmation says so.
Export a PDF
Export PDF opens the deck in a new tab with the browser's print dialog; choose Save as PDF there. Each visible slide becomes one 16 by 9 inch page.
The PDF uses the current draft, so the deck does not need to be published, and it leaves out hidden slides and speaker notes. Anyone who can open the deck in Magpie can export it.
Moving decks, Trash and QR codes
- Move to another team
- For a deck made in the wrong place. Its draft and published slides, speaker notes, shared link and the people it is shared with move with it. Members of the new team get access, and someone it is shared with who is not on that team becomes its guest.
- Move to Trash
- People who can edit the deck through its team can move it to Trash. While it is in Trash, its link and its collaborators cannot open it. Restore it within 30 days and the same link works again.
- A QR code for the link
- In QR Codes, A page in Magpie lists every deck that is published and shared by link, and a code made for one opens the shared deck.
- The assistant
- The assistant can publish a deck, turn its link on or off, add a collaborator and move a deck to Trash, each only when you confirm it in your message.
