Language for customers is the language of the words Magpie adds to the pages your team publishes and to the email those pages send to customers. Choose English, French (Français), Spanish (Español) or German (Deutsch). English is the default.

  • For a team: open the team page from the team switcher and choose Language for customers. Only a team admin can change it.
  • For Personal: open Settings and choose Language for customers in Account details.

What follows it

Today it applies to your Store: its buttons and labels, the cart and checkout, the order and return pages, most messages to buyers, and the emails buyers get (order confirmation, shipment, return decision, gift card, back in stock, review request and checkout reminder). Dates on the storefront and in buyer emails follow it too.

It also applies to booking. Your meeting page and public calendar follow Personal's language for customers, and a team's Appointments booking page and the page where a customer manages an appointment follow the team's. So do the emails sent to the person who booked: the confirmation, a new time, a cancellation and, for a meeting, a Zoom link. The date and time in them are written the way that language writes them.

Forms follow it too. A published form and the page after paying for a response are in the language for customers of the form's team, or of Personal for a form in Personal. The form's title, questions and choices are shown as you wrote them.

So do Client Portals. A client reads the portal and the page where they sign in to it in the language for customers of the portal's team, and gets its emails in it too: the invitation, the sign-in code, and the email saying you shared something. Plans, goals, steps and files are shown as you wrote them.

A Calendar event's public page follows the language for customers of the event's team: its buttons, messages and the way to RSVP or book a time. The event's title, place and description are shown as you wrote them.

It applies to Magpie's own words only. Product names, descriptions, collections, Store pages, policies and the announcement are shown as you wrote them, so write them in the language you choose.

A customer who has a Magpie account and chose their own language in Your language reads your pages in their language while signed in, and gets your Store's emails about their orders in it too. Your team's members always read Magpie in their own language.

The French, Spanish and German text is a machine translation that a person has not yet reviewed. The French is standard French; a few words differ from Canadian French. Stripe's payment page opens in the same language as the page that sent the buyer there. When that is English, Stripe uses the language of the buyer's browser.

If buyers still see the old language, ask them to reload the page. If the problem continues, Contact support.
