Product news emails
News emails from Magpie, when they arrive, and how to turn them off in Account settings or from the link in each email.
Magpie's website administrators write news emails about Magpie's areas and changes. They are sent to every account with Product news on. Product news is on for an account until it is turned off. It starts off for an account a course's school or a coach made, for one made for a Client Portal client, for one made for someone a business sent a proposal, a document to sign or recurring invoices, for one made for someone who paid an invoice online, and for one made from a talk page: with its sign-in page, with Continue with Apple or Continue with Google, or by sending a message with the link the talk page emails.
When a news email arrives
Each account's copy is sent at the first of these:
- You use Magpie, on the website or in the app. The email is sent 1 to 2 minutes later.
- An hour of the day in which you often use Magpie begins. The administrator chooses how often: any hour you have used Magpie in, your 3 most active hours, or your most active hour.
- The waiting period the administrator chose ends. It is between 12 hours and 3 days after the email was sent out.
To work out your active hours, Magpie records each hour of the day (in UTC) in which your account opened a page or used the app, by date. Records older than 60 days are deleted, and all of them are deleted with your account. Website administrators can see your most active hours on your account's admin page.
Turn product news off
Open Account settings and turn off Product news under Email notifications. The change is saved when you switch it.
You can also choose Turn off product news at the bottom of a news email and confirm on the page that opens. A mail program's own unsubscribe button uses the same link and turns product news off without asking.
Turning product news off stops any news email still waiting to be sent to you. A website administrator can also turn it off for your account. Emails about your own records, such as invitations, reminders and booking confirmations, are not news emails and are still sent. A personal letter from Magpie's founder is not a news email either.
