The supporters list

Supporters › Supporters lists everyone who supports the selected team's page, or did: paying through Stripe, on the free tier, or with complimentary access. The filter row narrows the list by how they support; the select shows current or ended support, and a tier.

Each supporter has a page with their tier, how they support, since when, and what Stripe knows about a paid supporter: the amount, the card, the renewal or end date, and why a subscription was cancelled when Stripe recorded a reason. Under the facts, History lists every change to the relationship: joining, payment states, moves between tiers, and how it ended.

A paid supporter has access while Stripe reports an eligible state: active, trialing, or a payment being retried. A cancelled or ended subscription does not grant future access. Email addresses and billing details are shown to team admins only.

Complimentary access

Give complimentary access on the Supporters list opens a tier to someone without paying: enter their email address or handle, choose the tier, and optionally an end date and a note only admins see. They need a Magpie account, and they get the same welcome email as any supporter. There is no limit on how many people can have it.

Complimentary access at a paid tier opens posts for paying supporters and for that tier. It ends on its end date, or when End complimentary access is chosen in the More menu of the supporter's page. Giving someone a second grant changes their tier and end date instead of adding another.

How supporters manage their support

Supporters use Who you support, in the account menu once they have joined a page, to see every page they support. A paid supporter opens the Stripe customer portal from there to update the card, view invoices, and cancel at the end of a billing period. The portal does not switch tiers; a different tier is joined from the public page once the current paid tier has ended.

A free supporter leaves from the same page, at once. Joining a paid tier ends the person's free tier, since the paid tier includes it.

A paid supporter's access follows Stripe's current subscription state, not the browser's return page. Opening a checkout page is not proof of payment.

The mobile app shows a read-only summary of supporters and of the pages a person supports. Payments, charges, refunds, complimentary access and cancellation remain on the website and in Stripe.

If Stripe shows an active subscription but Magpie does not grant its recorded tier access after reloading, Contact support.
