Image Converter
Resize, convert and rename a folder of images with one set of rules.
Batch applies the same size, crop, format, file size and filename rules to many images, without opening each one. Add files, a folder or images from your library, preview the first results, then convert them all and download a ZIP or save them to your image library.
Get started freeAdd the images
Batch is its own page in Image Converter. The files you add appear in a Files list with their sizes, and the Rules appear once there is at least one.
- Choose files
- Pick several files from your device at once.
- Choose folder
- Pick every image in a folder, in browsers that allow choosing a folder. The photos do not need to be in your image library first, and the ZIP keeps the folder structure.
- Choose from Magpie
- Add images already in Your images.
- File types
- The same as a single image: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP and AVIF, and HEIC or HEIF photos, which are converted to JPEG as they are added. A file can be taken out of the list before converting.
Size and crop rules
Batch sizes images by limits, not by exact dimensions, so photos of different shapes can go through the same rules.
- Maximum width and height
- Each image is scaled down to fit inside Maximum width (px) and Maximum height (px), keeping its own proportions: a portrait photo and a landscape photo in the same batch each keep their shape.
- Don't enlarge smaller images
- On by default, so an image already smaller than the limits keeps its size.
- No crop
- Each image keeps its own shape.
- Centre crop to a ratio
- Every image is cut to the same shape, such as Square 1:1 for a grid of thumbnails or 16:9 for banners. The crop is always taken from the centre of each image.
Format, file size and metadata
Format, Quality and Set a maximum file size work as they do for a single image, and apply to every file in the batch.
- Format
- JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, such as a folder of PNG screenshots converted to WebP for a website.
- Quality
- Maximum, High, Medium or Small file, translated to the matching setting of the chosen format.
- A maximum file size
- A limit in KB or MB for every file. Image Converter lowers the quality first; If lowering the quality is not enough chooses whether it may also Reduce the dimensions or must Keep the dimensions.
- Remove metadata
- Remove metadata (camera and location information) is on by default, and can be turned off to keep a photo's EXIF data.
Filenames
Filenames sets how the converted files are named, and the text field beside it is labelled for the rule you choose.
- Keep the original name
- Each file keeps its name, with the extension of the new format.
- Add a suffix
- Text added after each name, such as web in beach-web.jpg.
- Add a prefix
- Text added before each name, such as shop in shop-beach.jpg.
- Number them in order
- A base name you enter, followed by a number for each file.
Preview, convert and collect the results
Preview
Preview runs the current rules on the first files in the list and shows each result's dimensions and file size. Nothing else is converted, so the rules can be changed and previewed again.
Choose where the files go
When finished chooses Download as a ZIP or Save all to Magpie.
Convert all
A small batch finishes while the page is open. A larger one shows a progress bar and is converted on Magpie's servers, so the tab can be closed; Earlier batches on the Batch page lists each finished batch with a Download link.
Check the results
The results list shows which files were converted and gives the reason for any that were not, such as a corrupt image. A failed file does not stop the others. Download all (zip) and Save all to Magpie are both available, whichever destination you chose.
Originals, saved copies and storage
Batch never changes the source images. Save all to Magpie adds each result to Your images as a new image. Each result is also listed on Converted images, with the results of single images.
A result that is not saved to Magpie can be downloaded for 48 hours. Saved copies count toward your plan's storage: 1 GB on the free plan and 20 GB on paid plans.
The assistant on the Dashboard can also convert several images at once and save the results.
