Availability and Meeting Types
Choose when people can meet with you and which meeting lengths they can select.
Availability says when you normally accept meetings. A Meeting Type says what a visitor can schedule during those times: its name, length and description.
Set weekly availability
Open Availability. Select one or more days, or Select All, drag the two handles on the slider to the start and end time, and choose Add Availability. The slider moves in five-minute steps. To leave a break in a day, add two ranges for it, such as 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Current Availability lists every range; Delete removes one.
Time zone
Availability hours are in your account time zone, which the top of the Availability page names. Change it there or in Account settings. Your meeting page converts the hours into each visitor's time zone, so 9:00 AM in Los Angeles is offered as 12:00 PM to a visitor in New York.
An account created with Google, Apple, LinkedIn or GitHub sign-in starts in the time zone Magpie works out from your internet address, or in Toronto time when it cannot. When your browser's time zone differs from the account's, Availability, All Meetings and Meetings show both and offer Use or Keep. Keep hides the notice in that browser until either time zone changes.
Changing the account time zone moves future availability to the same hours in the new zone. It does not move meetings that are already scheduled.
Which times are offered
Times start at the beginning of each range and follow one another at the Meeting Type's length. A 45-minute Meeting Type in a 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM range offers 9:00, 9:45, 10:30 and 11:15; a time that would run past the end of the range is not offered.
A time cannot be chosen once it has passed, or when it overlaps:
- another meeting;
- a Calendar event you created or answered Going to;
- a busy time in Google Calendar, while it is connected (see Connect Google Calendar).
Create Meeting Types
Open Meeting Types and choose Add meeting type. Choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes to create a Meeting Type of that length straight away, named after it (such as "30-Minute Meeting"). Or enter your own name, choose a length from 15 minutes to 2 hours, add an optional description, and choose Create meeting type. The name, description and length appear on the meeting page. To add several at once, see Add meeting types by pasting JSON.
Deactivate takes a Meeting Type off the meeting page and marks it Inactive; Activate offers it again. Delete removes it. Neither changes meetings already scheduled.
The website does not change an existing Meeting Type's name, length or description. Add a new one and deactivate or delete the old one, or edit it in the mobile app.
On the Free plan the number of Meeting Types is limited to 2; Pro has no limit, and meetings themselves are not capped. Inactive Meeting Types count toward the limit, so delete one to make room. The Billing page shows the current limit.
In the mobile app
Scheduling settings, from the menu on Meetings, adds a weekly availability range one day at a time and deletes ranges. It also creates, edits, activates, deactivates and deletes Meeting Types.
If the meeting page still has no choices, check that at least one range exists, one Meeting Type is active, and Calendar does not show a conflicting event. Then check Google Calendar; see Connect Google Calendar. If the source of the conflict is not visible, Contact support.
