Forms
Review Form responses, export them as CSV, and require a payment for each one.
Each Form has a Summary of the answers to every question and a list of its responses, each with a review status. Export CSV writes every answer to one file. A paid Form sends each respondent to Stripe to pay a fixed amount, through the Stripe account of the Form's Personal or team.
Get started freeSummary and All responses
Responses opens from the editor's File menu, from Form settings, or from the Forms list, which also counts each Form's views.
- Summary
- The Summary lists every question in the Form's order. Choice, Yes/No and Rating questions show a count and a percentage for each choice; other questions list their answers, each linked to its response.
- All responses
- All responses lists every response with when it was submitted, its payment state when the Form required one, and its review status.
- One response
- Its answers are shown against the published version the respondent answered, so a later edit to the Form does not change an earlier response.
- Uploaded files
- Files from File questions open from their response or from the Summary, and only for signed-in people who can see the Form.
Notifications and review
An email for each response
The person who created the Form gets an email titled New response, with a View response button, each time someone submits. Email me for new responses, in Form settings, turns it off.
New, Reviewed or Archived
Give each response a status to organise the team's work. A status does not change the answers, a payment or the respondent's access.
Delete response
Deleting a response removes it from the list and from future exports. It does not refund a payment, and a deleted response cannot be restored in Forms, so export anything that must be kept first.
Who can do what
Anyone who can view the Form, in its team or as a collaborator, reads its responses. Changing a status or deleting a response needs edit access.
Export CSV
Export CSV downloads every response that has not been deleted as one CSV file. Import it on the Spreadsheets page to work with the answers as a spreadsheet.
- Columns
- Response ID, submission time, payment state, then one column for each question in the published versions the responses answered.
- Questions added later
- A response submitted before a question was added has an empty cell in that question's column.
- Several choices
- The choices ticked in a Checkboxes question are joined in one cell.
- The assistant
- The assistant on the Dashboard can list responses received in a date range, without their answers, files or payments.
Require a payment for each response
On a Form's Payment page, turn on Require payment and enter one amount and currency. The Form uses the Stripe account connected on the Payments page of its Personal or team, which a team admin connects. The account must be ready to accept payments before a paid Form can be published.
The respondent answers
The answers are checked and saved first, and the response appears with its payment Pending.
Pays by card on Stripe's page
Card details are entered on Stripe Checkout and are not stored by Magpie. The respondent needs no Magpie account unless the Form requires sign-in.
The payment is confirmed
Magpie checks the payment with Stripe before it shows the completion message. The response then shows Paid, with the amount and the payer's email address.
An unfinished payment
Leaving Stripe's page without paying returns the respondent to Continue to payment for the same response, and a cancelled or failed checkout does not create a second response. A response saved before the Form was closed can still be paid.
Prices, refunds and disputes
Publishing copies the amount into the Form's published version. A new price will apply after Publish changes, and a response already started keeps the amount it started with.
A payment is Pending, Paid, Failed, Partially refunded or Refunded, separate from the response's review status. Refund a payment in the Stripe dashboard, and the Form's payment state will change to match. A dispute is recorded on the response as open, won or lost, and answered in Stripe.
Fees, the seller and the books
Magpie's fee is 1% of each payment by default, and the Form's Payment page shows the rate new payments will use. Stripe's processing fee is also taken from each payment. When a payment is refunded, in full or in part, Magpie returns its fee in proportion to the amount refunded.
Each payment is a charge on the connected Stripe account, which is the seller: its business name appears on Stripe's page, it receives the money and pays Stripe's fees, and it is responsible for refunds, disputes, taxes and customer support.
Team admins see each Form payment, with its fees and net amount, in the payouts on the Payments page. Accounting adds Form payments to Form payments income through Stripe balance, and their fees to Payment processing fees.
