Calendar

Publish an event, collect RSVPs up to a capacity and invite people by email or link.

Each Calendar event has its own choices for who can find it and how much of it they see. An event can take RSVPs on its own page, stop at a capacity and show who is going to the people you choose. Events set to Public calendar are listed on your public calendar, at your own address.

Who can find an event

Who can find it is set on each event, under Sharing and responses in the panel where the event is made. An event belongs to Personal or the team that was selected when it was made.

Private
Only you. Other members do not see it on a team Calendar.
Team members
Everyone in the team, and anyone you invite.
Anyone with the link
Anyone who has the event's address can open it. It is not listed on your public calendar.
Public calendar
Listed on your public calendar, and anyone can open it.

What they see

What they see applies to everyone except you and the team members who can edit the event. It is set separately from who can find the event, so an event can be open to anyone and still keep its details back.

Busy only
The time, titled "Busy". A Busy only event takes no responses.
Title and time
The title and time, without the description or location.
Full details
Everything: title, time, location and description.

RSVPs and capacity

Choose RSVPs under Responses, and the event's page will show an RSVP button beside its date, time and place.

  1. Going or Not going

People answer on the event's page while signed in to Magpie. Someone without an account can create one from the event's page and then answer.

  2. Capacity

Set a capacity, and RSVPs will stop once that many people are going; the event's page will then say it is full. Leave it empty for no limit.

  3. Attendee count

Show attendee count shows how many people are going on the event's page and on your public calendar.

  4. Changing an answer

Someone who answered can come back to the event's page and change their answer.

Attendee names

Each person who answers decides whether to tick Show my name if the organizer shares attendee names. Consenting attendee names, on the event, decides who sees the names of the people who ticked it: Organizer only, Attendees (the people who are going) or Everyone who can open the event.

You always see every response, with each person's email address and whether they allowed their name to be shown.

Invitations

Manage invitations and attendee responses, in the panel of any event that is not private, opens the event's own page in Magpie. It lists the invitations and everyone who has answered.

  1. An email invitation

Enter an email address, and Magpie will email that person a link to the event. It can be used once, by someone signed in with that email address.

  2. A reusable link

Leave the email address empty to make a link with the number of uses you choose. The link is shown once, to copy before leaving the page.

  3. Expiry and Revoke

Each invitation expires after the time you choose. Revoke stops an invitation from being used; answers already given stay.

  4. Outside the team

An invitation lets someone outside the team open a Team members event and answer it.

Your public calendar and event pages

Your public calendar is at your meeting page's address followed by /calendar. It lists your upcoming events set to Public calendar, from Personal and your teams. When your meeting page is open to visitors, the two pages share tabs for Meetings and Calendar.

The event's page
Its title, organizer, date, time and time zone, location and attendee count, then About and the attendees, as What they see allows.
All events from the organizer
A link under each event opens the organizer's public calendar.
Edit in Magpie
A team member who can edit the event sees Edit in Magpie on its page.
Share event
For an event anyone with the link or anyone at all can open, Share event starts a Social Media post that names the event, to rewrite and schedule.
