Unsubscribe, the postal address and the do-not-email list
The unsubscribe link at the end of every Outreach message, your postal address, click tracking, and the team's list of addresses Outreach never emails.
Every Outreach message ends with a blank line and an unsubscribe line, and, when it is switched on, your postal address. These are added under the text you write, so leave them out of your steps.
The unsubscribe link
The line reads Unsubscribe followed by the person's own link, unless a team admin changes the wording in Unsubscribe wording in Outreach settings. Opening the link shows a page that asks Stop email from your team to their address, with one Unsubscribe button. Nothing changes until it is pressed, so a mail scanner that opens links cannot unsubscribe anyone.
Each message also tells the person's mail program how to unsubscribe, so Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and Apple Mail can show their own Unsubscribe control. Using it unsubscribes the person at once.
Unsubscribing makes the person Unsubscribed in every campaign of your team that is still sending to that address, and puts the address on the team's do-not-email list. Other teams' campaigns are not affected. A message already on its way may still arrive.
Your postal address
A team admin writes the team's Postal address in Outreach settings and chooses with Include the postal address in every message whether new campaigns add it under the unsubscribe line. Each campaign can switch it on or off in its Edit details…. Many countries' laws ask for a postal address in commercial email; check the rules where your recipients are.
Click tracking
With Click tracking on in a campaign's Edit details…, each web address you wrote in a step is sent as a Magpie address that counts the click, then opens your link. A person's page lists the links they followed. The unsubscribe link and your Appointments page link are never tracked. People see Magpie's address instead of yours, so leave tracking off when that matters more than the count. A tracked link keeps working after the campaign is archived.
Magpie never adds a tracking image and never records who opens a message.
The do-not-email list
Outreach → Settings → Do-not-email list lists every address the team never sends Outreach to: people who unsubscribed, addresses that bounced, and addresses added by hand, each with why and when. Search finds an address.
- Add addresses puts addresses on the list, one a line. People in campaigns at those addresses get nothing more.
- Take off the list removes an address. Someone who unsubscribed asked not to be emailed: take them off only if they ask you to.
- On a contact's page, the Outreach band has a Do not email switch that puts all the contact's addresses on the list, or takes them all off.
An address on the list cannot be added to a campaign, and a person in a campaign whose address goes on the list is Stopped at their next send. Addresses unsubscribed from your Newsletter are never emailed by Outreach either.
Members who can open Outreach can read the list; members with edit access change it.
