Create a Client Portal
Give a client a private page where they sign in to see the plans and work you share with them.
Open Client Portal in Personal or the selected team and choose New portal. Enter the client's name, a person or a company, and choose Create portal. The portal's page opens next.
The portal's address is made from the client's name, such as /portal/northline-studio, and does not change. The address is not a secret: what is in the portal still needs a client to sign in.
A client is a Contacts organization. If an organization with that name has no portal yet, the new portal uses it. Each client can have one portal; if the client's portal is archived, restore it from Archived instead. On a Contact's page, the Client Portal band has Create a portal, which fills in the Contact's company, or their name, links the Contact to the new client, and opens Invite client with that Contact chosen. Once the client has a portal, the band has Open portal.
The portal's page
A new portal has nobody who can sign in and nothing shared. The line under the portal's name says whether clients can sign in and, once they can, what is waiting for them: their steps, invoices to pay and signature requests. While client sign-in is on, the portal's address is at the top of its page: Copy copies it, and View as client opens the portal as clients see it, in a new tab. On the page:
- Invite client, beside the portal's name, gives a person access. See Invite clients to a portal.
- New plan in the Plans band adds the goals you are working towards with the client and the steps to reach them. See Make a plan with a client.
- The Share with band lists what you can share and have not yet: projects, meetings, invoices and signature requests. Once something of a kind is shared, that kind gets a band of its own, with its Share button in it. See Share meetings, projects and signature requests in a Client Portal and Share invoices in a Client Portal.
- Files shares files, chosen or dropped anywhere on the page. See Share files in a Client Portal.
- Clients lists the people who can sign in, and Client activity lists what they did, such as ticking a step or uploading a file. The Client Portal list shows each portal with its number of clients, Sign-in off when client sign-in is off, and how many steps the client has to do.
When you share something, each client who can sign in gets an email saying what, with a button that opens the portal. A reply to the email goes to the member who shared it. Each share drawer names who will get it. Email clients in Edit details… turns these emails off.
Every member who can use Client Portal in the team sees its portals. Members with edit access to the team's work can create and change them.
