Store
Choose your Store's design, write its pages and show it at your own domain.
A Store's look is set in Store settings: a design, a logo and cover image, an accent colour, fonts, an announcement line and a menu. Pages such as About and FAQ are written in Store, and a domain you own can show the Store in place of its Magpie address. Product pages can also show buyers' reviews, wishlists and back-in-stock emails.
Get started freeDesign, colours and fonts
The designs are Starter, Minimal, Bold, Editorial and Boutique. Each lays out the same pages with its own colours, header and number of products to a row; Bold is dark and the others are light. Choosing a design will change every page at once, and the settings below apply in every design.
- Logo and cover image
- The logo is shown beside the Store's name on every page, and the cover image across the top of the home page. Both are chosen from your image library or uploaded.
- Accent colour
- Colours the buttons and the announcement. It is one of the colours in your team's Brand Kits in Design System, and the text on it is made dark or light so it stays readable.
- Fonts
- Heading font and Body font each offer the design's font, System font, Serif, Monospace, and the Brand Kit fonts Magpie can show, such as Inter, Lora, Playfair Display or Georgia.
- Announcement
- A short line above the Store's pages, such as Free shipping this week.
- Preview before publishing
- Team members who can open Store, and anyone with the preview password, can browse a draft Store in its design.
Store pages, the menu and storefront language
Pages in Store holds pages you write in Markdown, such as About, FAQ or Contact, up to 30. A published page has its own address and is linked at the foot of every Store page, and one can be the terms buyers agree to before they pay.
- Store menu
- Up to 12 links at the top of every page, to All products, collections and Store pages, in the order you set. On a phone they are under a Menu button.
- Storefront language
- English, French, Spanish or German, for the words Magpie adds, such as buttons and buyer emails. The French, Spanish and German are machine translations that a person has not yet reviewed.
- Who can change the design and pages
- Team admins, and members given the Manage Store settings permission.
Show the Store at your own domain
Your Store always has a Magpie address. A team admin can also show it at a domain the team owns, such as shop.example.com or example.com.
Add the DNS records
Custom domain lists a TXT record that proves the domain is your team's, and a CNAME record for a subdomain or an ALIAS record for a whole domain. Email at the domain keeps working. When Magpie hosts the domain's DNS, Add the records for me adds them.
Wait for Live
Magpie checks the records in the background, and the Custom domain page updates as it finds them. Magpie then gets a security certificate, and the page shows Live.
Visitors move to your domain
Pages at the Magpie address will open the same page at your domain, so existing links keep working. A whole domain also answers at www. Order emails link to the Magpie address.
Product reviews
Only buyers can review a product, once for each order, from a link emailed to them. Every review is marked as from a verified buyer.
- Review requests
- Ask buyers for a review sends one email for each order, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days after the whole order shipped, or Never, the default. An order of downloads counts from payment.
- What a review holds
- A star rating, an optional title and text, and the name to show.
- Publishing and replies
- New reviews wait until you publish them, unless Publish new reviews at once is on. Hide takes a review off the product page, and a public reply is shown under it.
- On the product page
- Up to 50 published reviews, newest first, with the average rating beside the product's name. Search engines are given the same average.
Wishlists and back-in-stock emails
- Wishlists
- A shopper signed in to Magpie saves up to 200 products to a wishlist for the Store, and can share a read-only link that shows no name or email address.
- Back-in-stock emails
- When a variant whose stock is counted sells out, its product page asks for an email address, and one email will be sent when it can be bought again. Bundles and variants that sell on back order are left out.
- What you see
- How many people are waiting for each sold-out variant. Their addresses are not shown, and are used for that one email only.
