Connect Google Calendar
Show Google events on Calendar, choose which Personal and team calendars are added to Google, block busy times, and create Google Meet links.
Open Integrations and connect Google Calendar. Google asks you to authorize calendar access, then returns to Magpie. Magpie uses your primary Google calendar.
Busy times in Google Calendar always block choices on your meeting page while it is connected. The Google Calendar section of Integrations controls the rest.
- Show Google events on Calendar shows your Google events on your Personal Calendar with their own marker. They are read-only in Magpie; selecting one opens it in Google Calendar. They never appear on a team Calendar, and events you declined in Google are left out. Changes made in Google appear on an open Calendar within about a minute. It is on when you connect.
- Calendars added to Google Calendar lists Personal and each team you belong to. For each one, choose Not added or All events; a team also offers Only events I'm going to, which covers events you answered Going to and events you created. Personal starts as All events and teams start as Not added.
- Add new meetings to Google Calendar adds each new meeting with the attendee invited. Turning it off does not disable busy-time checking. Existing Google events are not removed because the switch is turned off.
Events from the calendars you choose are added to your primary Google calendar within about a minute, including upcoming events that already exist. Changing or deleting an event in Magpie changes or deletes its Google copy. Choosing Not added, leaving a team, or a team being archived removes that calendar's upcoming events from Google Calendar; past events stay. If you delete a copy in Google Calendar, Magpie does not add it again.
Each person's copy follows what Magpie shows them. A team event you can see only as busy is added as "Busy", and a title-only event is added without its description or location. Copies are not shared with other people and send no invitations.
Magpie's own copies of meetings and Calendar events do not appear twice on Calendar.
When Zoom is not connected, Magpie can create a Google Meet link with the meeting's Google event. If Zoom is connected, Zoom takes priority for the conference link while the meeting can still be added to Google Calendar.
Cancelling a meeting removes its Google event. Disconnecting the integration stops showing Google events, adding events, and checking conflicts, but does not erase events already in Google Calendar. Calendar settings shows the current state and links to Integrations.
If Google permissions expire or are removed, Integrations shows Reconnect required and Calendar says Google events cannot be shown. Google busy times do not block meeting choices until you reconnect and approve calendar access. If a meeting and its Google event remain inconsistent after reconnecting, Contact support.
