See your shifts and ask for changes
See the shifts you are scheduled for, take open shifts, swap or get cover, and choose how you are told about changes.
Staff Scheduling is marked Coming soon. Only Magpie administrators can access it.
When a manager invites you, accept the invitation with the account that uses the address it was sent to, or create one. You will see your own shifts for that team and nothing else of it. If you work for more than one team, every team's shifts appear together, whichever team is selected.
Your shifts
My shifts shows your next shift, the coming three weeks, and updates about your schedule. You see a shift only once a manager publishes it, and a change only once it is published. Open a shift for its times, breaks, address, instructions and, if your team allows, who else is working.
From two hours before a shift starts until it ends, Start tracking time on the shift starts Time Tracking for it, if you are a member of the team.
Ask for a change
On one of your shifts, choose Change:
- Swap with a coworker lists their shifts you could both work. Nothing changes until they agree and, if your team requires it, a manager approves.
- Ask for cover asks coworkers who could work it. You stay on the shift until someone takes it over.
- I cannot work this shift tells your manager straight away. The shift stays yours until they confirm a replacement.
Open shifts lists published shifts nobody is on that you could work. Taking one either gives it to you straight away or asks a manager, as your team chose. My requests shows what you asked for, swaps and offers waiting for your answer, and coworkers who need cover. You can withdraw a request that is still waiting.
Time off and availability
On My requests, choose Ask for time off. Your manager will decide; you stay on any shifts in that time unless they change them. Availability sets when you can usually work, and dates that differ. If your team requires it, changes to your usual week wait for a manager's approval.
Notifications
On Notifications, choose email or app notifications for schedule changes, and separately for urgent ones, such as a shift today that changed. Reminders will arrive before each shift, the way you chose for urgent notifications. Quiet hours will hold routine notifications until they end; urgent ones will still arrive.
Your published shifts appear in your Personal Calendar unless you turn that off. Calendar subscription gives an address that Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook can subscribe to. Anyone with the address can see your shifts; make a new address if it was shared by mistake.
If you cannot see a shift you expect, ask your manager whether it is published. For other problems, contact Contact support.
