Families and households

Everyone's week is on one family calendar, and the lists are shared. Each of you keeps your own passwords and papers, encrypted.

Your household works in one Magpie team. Grandparents and others can join for only the calendar or a list.

Everyone's plans are on one family calendar.

Calendar shows the family's events to everyone in it, from swimming lessons to the dentist. To-dos with a date show on it too.

A private event is seen only by the person who made it. Your own meetings and shifts stay on your own calendar.

The lists are shared, and the bins go out every Thursday.

To-dos holds the family's lists, such as the week's jobs and packing for the holiday. A To-do can be given to one person, with a reminder by email.

Typing "every Thursday" at the end of a To-do makes it repeat. A List can be shared with someone outside the family, such as a grandparent.

The Novak household’s List for the half-term holiday, shared with Grandad: To-dos with their days, who each is given to, and checklists, under the line that says who can see the List.

Recipes, the wifi and how the boiler works are written down once.

Notes keeps the family's notes, open to everyone in the family. Each note is saved as you type, with checklists and pictures.

Search finds a note by its words, in the family's notes and your own.

Search results for “recipe” in Notes: the family’s recipes, Elena’s own notes and a note from her running club, each with where it is and when it last changed.

The family talks in one place, not in five group texts.

Team chat gives the family channels, such as one for the holiday. You can reply in a thread, react and add pictures.

Someone from outside the family can be let into one channel as a guest.

Each of you keeps your passwords in your own vault.

Password Vault keeps each person's logins, Wi-Fi details and notes, encrypted in the browser. Only that person can open their vault.

A recovery key lets you choose a new vault password if you forget it. A vault can be imported from Chrome, Bitwarden or 1Password.

Elena’s Password Vault: her logins, the home Wi-Fi details and recovery codes, each with its tags and when it last changed.

Passports, insurance and the house papers are kept encrypted.

Secure Files keeps your papers in folders, encrypted in your browser before they are saved. Each person's files are their own.

A secure link sends one file to someone, such as the insurer. The link expires when you choose.

Elena’s Secure Files open on the Family papers folder: insurance, passport scans, the house papers and the car’s documents, each with its size and date.

Six more areas cover the budget, the plumber, spellings, reading, receipts and your privacy.

Spreadsheets
Spreadsheets keeps the household budget, with formulas.
Contacts

Flashcards
Flashcards helps with spellings and times tables.
Bookmarks
Bookmarks keeps recipes and ideas from around the web.
Expenses
Expenses keeps receipts, such as for repairs.
Data Removal
Data Removal asks people-search sites to remove your details.

Others can join as guests, with only the areas you give them, and take no place. Prices are on the Pricing page.

Other people organising their lives have pages of their own.
