Moving house

Every job before moving day is on one list, shared between you. The removal firm, the utilities and the new lease are in the same place.

You plan the move in one Magpie team with the people moving with you. Each of you keeps your own copies of the papers.

Every job before moving day is on one list, shared between you.

To-dos holds the move's jobs, such as giving notice and booking the van. Each one has a day and who is doing it.

A reminder can be emailed before each one. A List can be shared with someone helping, such as a parent.

Moving day, the viewings and the key handover are on one calendar.

Calendar shows the move's events to both of you, with To-dos on their days. Moving day, the meter readings and the broadband install sit together.

Your own work stays on your own calendar.

The Moving to Bristol Calendar for October: viewings, signing the lease, the notice period, the broadband install and To-dos such as confirming the van.

Everyone you need to call is in one list, with what they said.

Contacts keeps the removal firm, the landlord and each utility, with notes on each call. A follow-up becomes a To-do, such as confirming the van.

The follow-ups list shows who you are waiting to hear from.

The people and companies for the move in Contacts, each with tags, contact details, when they were last in touch and the next follow-up.

Every receipt is kept, and you see what the move cost.

Expenses keeps each payment with its receipt, from the removal firm to the boxes. Each one has a category, such as the deposit.

Reports total what was spent by category for any dates. They export as CSV, with the receipts.

The move’s expenses: the holding deposit, boxes, a cleaner and the removal firm’s deposit, each with its date, category and amount.

The lease and the deposit papers are kept encrypted.

Secure Files keeps the new lease, the inventory and the deposit certificate, encrypted in your browser. Each person's files are their own.

A secure link sends one file to someone, such as the new landlord.

Leah’s Secure Files open on the New flat folder: the lease, the deposit certificate, the inventory and the removal booking, each with its size and date.

Meter readings and what went in each box are written down once.

Notes keeps the move's notes, open to both of you, with checklists and photos. A note for each room can list what went in each box.

Search finds a note by its words, such as the box with the kettle.

Search results for “box” in Notes: the move’s notes listing what went in each box and the meter readings, and Leah’s own notes, each with where it is and when it last changed.

Three more areas cover the budget, letters and box labels.

Spreadsheets

Documents

QR Codes
