Open this in Magpie

In Admin, the Users list shows the newest accounts first, with signup dates and founder-email status. Use the filter above the list to find users whose letter has not been sent.

Choose Send in a user's Founder email column, or Send founder email on their page. Review the recipient, subject and letter. Edits in this preview apply to that recipient. No letter is sent automatically; you choose when to queue it after signup.

Choose when it is sent

The letter is sent 1 to 2 minutes after the person next uses Magpie, on the website or in the app. Until then, Priority chooses which hours of the day it may also be sent in:

  • High: any hour of the day they have used Magpie in during the last 60 days.
  • Medium: the 3 hours of the day they use Magpie most.
  • Low: the hour of the day they use Magpie most.

Send at the latest after is how long it can wait: when that time has passed, it is sent. Choose Queue email. The person's page shows their most active hours, in your time zone, under Activity.

While the letter is queued, the Users list shows Queued. Open it and choose Cancel letter to stop it; you can queue it again afterwards. A letter that has started sending cannot be cancelled.

Sender and results

The sender name is Andrew Smales. The letter uses Magpie’s configured sending address, and replies go to andrew@magpie.diy. It is a plain-text email. It is sent whether or not the person has Product news on.

Choose Edit the default letter from a preview to change future letters. Use {name} for the recipient’s name. Save default letter saves the template without sending an email.

After sending, the Users list shows Sent and the date. To read the letter and the address used, open the user and choose Read the letter. The letter goes to the account's address at the time it is sent. Sent means the email provider accepted the message; it does not confirm delivery or that the recipient read it. A letter cannot be queued again once it has been sent.

If the result needs checking, inspect the email provider before sending another letter. Queuing remains unavailable for an uncertain result to prevent duplicates. A letter refused by the email provider can be queued again from the preview.
