Plans, limits, and billing
Compare Free, Pro and the Team plan, see which context pays, and manage a subscription.
Every Personal and team context has its own plan, and the Billing page names the context whose plan you are viewing. The public Pricing page compares Free, Pro and the Team plan. Choosing a plan there before you have an account carries the plan and billing interval into setup; see Set up Magpie after signing up. Signed in, its buttons open checkout for Personal or for the selected team.
- Personal is on Free or Pro. Pro raises the limits on your own work: your notes, calendar and contacts in Personal, and things that are always yours wherever you work, such as file storage, books, podcasts, event types, video calls and screen recordings.
- A shared team is on Free or the Team plan. The Team plan raises the limits on what the team owns — contacts, invoices, chat, notes, calendar, newsletter, Kanban boards, Supporters and up to 25 members — at one price for the whole team. Members do not pay.
Pro does not upgrade a team, and a team's plan does not upgrade anyone's Personal work. A team keeps its plan when people join or leave and when it is transferred to another admin.
If you were paying for Pro and owned a team when team plans were introduced, your teams — including teams you create later — still follow your Pro plan. The team's Plan page says so. A Team plan bought for one of those teams takes over from your Pro plan for that team.
The mobile app shows the selected context's plan status and bounded usage in More. On your Personal plan screen, you can buy Pro monthly or yearly through the App Store or Google Play. The store shows the price before you confirm. Restore purchases checks a subscription bought with the store account on your device. The Team plan is not sold in the app. If payment approval is still pending, the app says so. If the store reports a subscription that needs attention, check its status in the store account.
Bookings are unlimited on every plan. Pro raises limits for event types, calendar events, notes, feeds, books, podcasts and episodes, newsletter sends and subscribers, contacts, invoices, file storage, how many teams you can own, chat, video calls, screen recordings, idea workspaces, Kanban boards, Supporters, and API access. A team on the Team plan does not count towards how many teams you can own. The Billing page is the current source for exact limits and prices.
Manage a Pro or Team subscription
Open Personal plan and billing for Pro, or the team's page and then View plan and usage for its Team plan. Only a team admin can buy or change a Team plan; other members can see it.
Choose monthly or yearly billing, enter your card on the checkout page, and pay. An account created with an email address and password must confirm that address before buying a plan. Dashboard shows a one-line See plans link while the selected context is on Free and you can change its plan. After payment, you return to the page that sent you to Billing when possible. Use Payment and invoices to open Stripe's billing portal for the payment method, receipts, and cancellation. Offer codes apply to Pro only.
A team on the Team plan cannot be archived until its plan is cancelled.
For a Pro subscription bought in the mobile app, use Manage subscription on the app's Plan and billing screen on the same platform. The App Store or Google Play manages its payment method, receipts and cancellation. A store purchase cannot be managed in Stripe's billing portal.
The mobile app does not provide Store buyer order history, digital downloads or paid Supporters posts. This restriction applies to all accounts. Store seller administration remains available in the app.
Cancellation normally keeps the plan active until the end of the paid period. A
payment being retried may temporarily show past due without removing it.
When a context returns to Free, existing data is not an instruction to delete
it; creating more is blocked when the applicable limit has been reached.
Data Removal refunds
If you first buy a paid Magpie plan through Data Removal, you can request a refund within 30 calendar days of that payment. If Magpie has not submitted the first removal request, the payment is refunded in full. After the first request has been submitted, the refund is prorated based on the time remaining in the current billing period. This applies to the first payment, whether monthly or yearly, and not to renewals. A refund ends the paid plan and Data Removal access. Cancelling the plan does not request a refund.
Plan billing is money the team pays Magpie. Payments is the separate Stripe account used when a team receives money. See Connect Stripe to receive money. For a charge or plan state you cannot reconcile, Contact support.
