Your public profile and account details
Change the name, profile picture, handle, bio, time zone, sign-in email, and public address used across Magpie.
Open Account settings from the identity menu. The Public profile section shows the identity Magpie uses wherever it identifies you publicly. The mobile app has the same safe profile fields under More → Account settings.
- Display name is the name shown to other people.
- Profile picture appears in your account menu and on your public meeting page. Open it to upload a JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP picture, replace the current one, or remove it. Removing it restores your initials in the account menu.
- Handle is the unique name used in your public account URL.
- Bio is the short description shown with your identity where supported.
- Public page is the shareable account and booking address.
Changing the handle changes account-level public URLs. Podcasts, books, sites, boards, stores, and similar objects can also have their own address component; their title or slug does not have to match your handle.
The Account details section shows the sign-in email, account creation date, and time zone. Times you enter or schedule are interpreted in that time zone unless the page says otherwise, and your weekly meeting availability uses it. Changing it does not alter the instant represented by an existing booking or scheduled newsletter.
Change your sign-in email
Open Email under Account details (in the app, More → Account settings → Email) and enter the new address.
- Confirm it is you. Enter your current password. If the account has no password, a 6-digit code is sent to your current address instead; enter it to continue. If two-factor authentication is on, also enter a code from your authenticator app.
- A link is sent to the new address. Your email only changes when that link is opened, so a mistyped address changes nothing. The link works for 24 hours. Until then, Account settings shows the change as waiting, and you can send a new link or cancel it.
- Once it changes, your old address is told, with a link to undo the change for 7 days.
Undo is for a change you did not make. It restores the old address, signs the account out on every device and removes its password; a sign-in link is then sent to the old address so you can get back in and set a new password.
Google, Apple and LinkedIn sign-in keep working after a change. Receipts for teams you own go to the new address. If the new address already belongs to another Magpie account, nothing changes, and that address is told someone tried to use it.
