Give complimentary Pro

Website administrators can give a person Pro on their Personal plan with nothing charged. It works like paid Pro everywhere in Magpie: the same limits and the same paid areas, including Data Removal.

Give it

1. Open Admin and choose the person in the user list.
2. In Complimentary Pro, choose Give complimentary Pro.
3. Choose a length: 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, no end date, or Until a day you choose. Each length shows the day it ends.
4. Optionally add a private note. Only website administrators see it.
5. Leave Email … about it selected to send them an email saying how long Pro lasts, with a link to their plan page.
6. Choose Give complimentary Pro.

Days are in the person's own time zone, which the page names. Pro lasts to the end of the last day.

A person can have one complimentary Pro at a time. To give more time, change the end date of the current one.

Change or end it

On the person's page, click the date in Ends and choose another day. Remove end date gives it no end date. Click the note to change it.

End now ends it at once. Their Personal plan returns to Free unless they have a subscription. Earlier complimentary Pro, with who gave it and who ended it early, is listed below.

When the person also pays

Complimentary Pro and a paid subscription do not change each other:

• If they already pay for Pro, their subscription keeps renewing. They can cancel it from their billing page; complimentary Pro continues until its own end.
• If complimentary Pro ends within the next two years, their billing page offers Keep Pro after that day. A plan chosen there takes its first payment when complimentary Pro ends, so nothing is charged twice. In its last two days, a plan chosen is charged at once.
• If complimentary Pro has no end date, or ends later than that, their billing page offers no plan to buy yet.
• A subscription chosen to start after complimentary Pro follows it. If you change the end date, its first payment moves to the new day. End now starts it, and Stripe takes its first payment. Remove end date cancels it before any payment. The person's page shows the first payment date, and End now and Remove end date say what will happen to the subscription before you confirm.

Paying customers lists everyone with complimentary Pro, soonest ending first, and marks those who also have a subscription. Complimentary Pro is not counted as a payment on the stats page.
