Every account has Personal, a private context for its own resources. A shared team is a named group of members with resources of its own. Magpie uses the word Team, not workspace.

The selected Personal or team context decides where a new team-scoped item is created and what a tool's list shows. Existing items stay with their owner when you switch. A contact made under Personal will therefore not appear in Contacts while a team is selected, and a team note is not copied into every member's Personal notes.

The website's team selector shows each shared team's colour in its menu and shows the selected colour before the page reloads. The app's list headings also show the colour. It belongs to the team and can be changed by its admins. Personal stays neutral. The website names the destination on Document creation and import actions, and the app names it on Document creation.

Search and Recent work look across Personal and every team you belong to, so you can find something without remembering which team it is in. Each result shows its team, and opening one from another team switches to that team.

The website and the mobile app each remember their own selection. Switching in the app does not change the website, and switching on the website does not change the app. The app starts from the website's selection until you choose one in the app. If you leave a team or are removed from it, both return to Personal.

Team admins control membership, resource access, plan and billing, and the team's connected payment account. A product object can have additional rules: a public board may be readable outside the team, while its settings still belong to team members.

Your account identity is separate from ownership. The same display name, handle, and bio identify you across teams and public product pages.

For member roles and invitations, see Create and manage a team. If access does not match the team settings, Contact support.
