Edit and format text in Design
Change Text content, format a selection, and control wrapping and size.
Choose the Text tool and click the canvas. The default word is selected. Type to replace it. Double-click an existing Text Layer, or select it and press Enter, to edit it on the canvas. Press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter or Escape to finish. You can also change the full value in Text in the Design Inspector.
While editing on the canvas, select one or more characters. Use Bold, Italic, Underline, or Strike in the formatting bar. Choose Clear to remove formatting from the selection. Cmd/Ctrl+B, Cmd/Ctrl+I, and Cmd/Ctrl+U apply the corresponding format. Formatting before and after inserted or deleted text is kept as a normalized range.
Select a Text Layer to set its Font, Weight, Size, Line height, Letter spacing, and alignment in the Text section of the Design Inspector. The Font list includes common Google Fonts, such as Inter, Roboto, Open Sans and Playfair Display, and fonts installed on most computers, such as Arial and Georgia. Google Fonts load for everyone who opens the file or its Prototype. A font set by an older file that is not in the list stays selected and is marked (custom). These values apply to text that does not have a selection-specific override. Text colour is under Fill.
Auto width keeps the text on one line and changes the Layer width to fit. Auto height wraps at the current width and changes the Layer height to fit. Fixed keeps both dimensions and clips content outside the Layer. Dragging a Text Layer resize handle changes it to Fixed. Vertical alignment is visible when a Fixed Text Layer is taller than its content.
The editor, Prototype viewer, and exported SVG use the same measured lines and selection formatting. A font that is not available in the browser uses its fallback without changing the saved Font value.
If text measures or wraps differently in a Prototype or export than on the canvas, Contact support.
