Group posts into campaigns
Group social posts into a campaign, mark each draft finished when it is ready, then schedule the campaign's finished drafts at once.
A campaign groups Social Media posts so a team can prepare them together and schedule them at once. Posts never need a campaign.
Making a campaign
In Social Media → Campaigns, select New campaign and give it a name. It opens on its own page. To change its name, its description of what it is for, its start and end dates, or link tracking, choose Edit details in the More menu. The line under the name shows the dates and how its posts stand.
Add posts on the campaign's page. New post starts a draft in the campaign and opens it. Add existing posts adds posts that are in no campaign. A post's own page also has a Campaign choice once the team has campaigns.
The campaign's posts are listed in the order they will be scheduled in. Drag a post by its grip, or use Move up and Move down. Take out of campaign leaves the post in Social Media without a campaign.
Finished drafts
While the team writes the posts and makes their images, each draft in a campaign has Finished under Campaign on its page. Switch it on when the draft's text and images are done. The campaign lists which drafts are finished and who marked them.
Scheduling a campaign
Schedule campaign schedules every finished draft at the team's next free posting times, in the campaign's order, starting from the campaign's start date, or from now when that is later. Before you confirm, the campaign says when the first post will go out. Drafts not marked finished stay drafts, and posts already scheduled keep their time.
A campaign needs posting times, which a team admin adds in Social Media settings. A post that does not pass its checks, such as an Instagram post with no image, stays a draft and is named in the message.
Accounts the team posts to itself, such as X and Instagram, are scheduled as reminders: Magpie does not post them. See Post to X and Instagram yourself.
Link tracking
Link tracking is on for a new campaign. Links in its posts are then sent
with utm_source set to each platform (such as bluesky), utm_medium=social
and utm_campaign set to the campaign's name in lower case with hyphens, so
analytics tools can tell the visits apart. Other parameters in the link are
kept, and the longer link counts towards each platform's character limit.
Switch it off to send links as written.
Current, finished and archived campaigns
Campaigns lists current campaigns first. A campaign is listed under Finished once its end date has passed or all its posts have gone out, so the current list stays short without anyone tidying it. Archive campaign in the More menu moves a campaign to Archived and leaves its posts as they are; Restore from Archived brings it back. Delete campaign deletes the campaign; its posts stay in Social Media without a campaign or its link tracking.
