Sell bundles of products
Sell several of your products together at one price, with stock taken from each product in the bundle.
A bundle is a product made of other products you sell, each with a quantity. It has its own name, images, description and price. When it sells, each product in it is taken from stock as if it had been sold on its own.
Make a bundle
- In Products, choose New product, enter a name and choose A bundle of products you already sell. The bundle is added as a draft and its page opens.
- In the Parts band, choose Add parts and add each product. Search by product name, option or SKU. Each part is added with 1 in each bundle.
- Click a part's number to change how many each bundle holds. Drag a part, or use its arrows, to change the order customers see.
- Set the price, compare-at price and SKU under Price and inventory, add an image, and choose Make live.
A part is a physical or digital product of the same Store, or one choice of a product with options (such as a Blue Mug). It can be live or draft, so a bundle can include something not sold on its own. A bundle cannot contain another bundle, a gift card or an item that sells licence keys, and each item is in a bundle once; raise its number instead. A bundle has up to 50 parts and up to 1,000 of each. A bundle has no options of its own: make one bundle for each choice.
Remove takes a part out of the bundle. Orders already placed keep the parts they were sold with, and the product stays in the Store.
In the Magpie app, a bundle's product screen lists its parts with their stock and how many bundles can be sold. Add part adds a part; select a part to change how many each bundle holds. Remove from bundle is in the part's menu, and a part's row also swipes to remove it; either asks you to confirm. The app does not change the order of the parts.
Stock and availability
A bundle has no stock of its own. The Parts band shows how many bundles can be made from the parts in stock: the fewest whole bundles any part's available stock allows. A part that does not track stock never limits it. When a part runs out, the bundle shows as sold out in the Store, the Cart and the product feeds.
If a part sells when out of stock, the bundle does too: customers see it as a pre-order with that part's expected ship date, and the order shows how many bundles were not in stock.
A part that is archived, no longer for sale, or now sells licence keys stops the bundle from selling, and the bundle's page says which part. Remove it or make it available again.
Checkout holds each part's stock while the customer pays. When the order is paid, each part leaves stock from the location the order leaves from, and each part's change is in its Stock history under the order. A bundle counts toward a part's stock wherever the Cart holds that part, so a customer cannot buy a bundle and the same item on its own beyond what is in stock.
Orders
A bundle is one line on the order at the bundle's price. The order page, the customer's order page, the confirmation email and the packing slip list what each bundle contains. The pick list counts the parts to ship, not the bundle. Discounts, gift cards and refunds apply to the bundle line as to any other line.
Returning a bundle to stock, after a refund or a return, puts back each of its parts. A bundle's cost is the sum of its parts' costs when it sold, so reports show its margin; if any part has no cost, the bundle's margin is unknown.
A bundle ships when any part ships. The files of its digital parts are delivered with the bundle, under the download period and downloads per file set in the bundle's Downloads band. A bundle of only digital parts is not shipped.
