Import and export products as CSV
Export every Store product and variant to a CSV file, and import one to add products or change prices, stock and details.
Export
On Products, open the More menu and choose Export products as CSV. The file has one row for each variant of every product that is not deleted, including drafts and archived products. Open it in a spreadsheet, change it, and import it again.
Import
Choose Import products from CSV in the same menu and select a file of up to 2 MB and 5,000 rows, with a header row. Before anything changes, the import page lists the products it will add, the variants it will change and what changes on each, and the rows that cannot be imported and why. Select Import to go ahead, or Cancel.
Each row is one variant:
- A row whose SKU matches a variant in your Store changes that variant and its product. A row without a SKU is matched by Variant ID, the column the export writes.
- Any other row adds a product as a draft. Rows with the same Handle become the choices of one product, told apart by Option 1 name and Option 1 value (up to three options). Without a Handle, the Title is used to make one.
- An empty cell keeps the current value.
- A changed Stock is recorded in the product's stock history as a stock count, and a changed Cost per item as a cost change.
- Status is not imported. Publish products from their pages.
Rows with a problem, such as a price that is not a number or a SKU used twice in the file, are not imported and are listed with their line numbers. The other rows are imported.
A file with more than 100 rows will be imported in the background. You will get an email when it is finished, and the import's page shows the result.
Columns
Column names are matched without regard to capitals or spaces, and other columns are ignored: Product ID, Handle, Title, Description, Status, Kind (physical or digital), Product type, Vendor, Tags (separated by commas), Option 1 to 3 name and value, Variant ID, SKU, Barcode, Price, Compare-at price, Cost per item, Track stock (yes or no), Stock, Weight (g), HS code, Country of origin, For sale (yes or no), Search engine title, Search engine description, Max per order and Max per customer. Prices are in the Store's currency.
The JSON import in Add products by pasting JSON still adds draft products from a pasted document.
