Triage is the review queue for incoming issues in Personal or the selected team. Issues enter it from three places:

  • a report sent through a public issue form;
  • an issue created through the version 1 API (see API keys and REST API);
  • an issue a member sends to Triage with More, then Send to triage, on the issue page. The issue must be in an open status, not a Completed or Cancelled one.

Issues created on the website or in the Magpie app go straight into the team's workflow and do not enter Triage.

Review issues in Triage

Triage lists the waiting issues, oldest first, with when each was added, its project, and the reporter's contact email when one was given. The contact email is shown only to members who can edit issues. For each issue, a member who can edit chooses:

  • Accept: the issue leaves Triage and keeps its status.
  • Cancel: the issue moves to the team's first Cancelled status.
  • Mark duplicate: enter the ID of an existing issue in the same team. The issue is linked to it as a duplicate and moves to a Cancelled status.

Cancel and Mark duplicate need a status in the Cancelled category (see Issue statuses, custom fields and automations). The review is recorded in the issue's activity, and the issue page shows its triage state. An issue that was reviewed can be sent to Triage again.

Create a public issue form

A public issue form lets people outside the team report bugs and other problems without a Magpie account. Members who can edit open More on the Issues page, then Public forms, and choose Create public form. Enter:

  • Form name, which only the team sees;
  • Public title, shown at the top of the form;
  • Instructions, in Markdown;
  • Project, optional. Reports will take the project's prefix and appear in it.

A new form is off. Choose Enable beside it on Public forms to start accepting reports; the row then shows the form's public address, which you can share. Disable stops new reports; the issues already reported stay in the team. Choose a form's name to change it.

What a reporter sees

The form asks for a title, a description and an optional contact email. After Send report, the page says the report was received. A disabled form shows Issue form unavailable. A connection that sends many reports has to wait before it can send more.

Each report becomes an issue in the team's backlog and enters Triage. Its creator is shown as Public form.
