Archive or delete a message board
Close a message board to new posts while keeping it readable, restore it, or delete it for good once it is archived.
A board's creator and the team's admins can archive, restore and delete it. On the website these are in More beside the board's name; in the Magpie app they are in the board's action menu.
Archive a board
Open the board and choose More, then Archive board. Nothing asks first, because Restore board undoes it.
An archived board keeps its posts, comments, votes and address, and anyone who could read it before still can, including visitors to a public board. Nobody can post, comment or vote on it, and the board and its posts say when it was archived. A post that someone was writing when the board was archived is not published; the new post page keeps its text.
Authors, the board's creator and the team's admins can still delete posts and comments on an archived board, and Edit details still works, so an archived public board can be made private.
An archived board leaves the list on Message Boards, Search and the assistant. To find it, choose Archived on Message Boards; that tab appears once a board in Personal or one of your teams is archived. In the app, choose Show, then Archived boards. Recent work on Dashboard still opens it, marked Archived.
Restore a board
Open the board from Archived and choose More, then Restore board. The board returns to the list on Message Boards, and people can post, comment and vote on it again.
Delete a board
Only an archived board can be deleted. Open it, choose More, then Delete board, and confirm. The confirmation says how many posts and comments will be deleted with the board. Deleting cannot be undone. The board's address stops working and cannot be used by another board. Someone who could read the board and opens its address is told that it was deleted.
If you archived or deleted a board and it still takes new posts, or still appears on Message Boards, Contact support.
