The Helpdesk contact page and the customer's conversation page
Let people write to an inbox from a page on Magpie, and read and answer their conversation online.
The contact page
Turn on Contact page on an inbox's page, and copy its address, such as
https://magpie.diy/contact/acme-support, onto your website. The page
shows the inbox's name and asks for the person's name, email address and
message, with up to 5 files of 10 MB in all.
Sending it starts a conversation in the inbox, as an email would, and the person gets the inbox's acknowledgement with a link to the conversation. The page then says where the reply will come. Someone signed in to Magpie sends as their own account.
Each browser can send the page 10 times an hour. While the inbox is archived or the page is turned off, its address says the link no longer works.
Every customer has a Magpie account
Writing from the contact page makes a Magpie account for the address, with no password, or connects the account the address already has. Customers who write by email get one when they open the conversation's link.
The customer's conversation page
Every email to a customer ends with View or reply online, a link to their conversation. Signed out, they are asked to sign in, with a link Magpie emails them. The page opens only for the customer's own account, or an account whose confirmed address is the customer's; anyone else is told the account does not open it. An account whose address is not confirmed yet is asked to confirm it first.
The page shows your replies and their messages, never notes, tags or who the conversation is assigned to. Your replies show the inbox's name and the name of the person who wrote them, never their address. The customer can answer in Your reply: their answer arrives as their email would, reopens the conversation and is told to whoever has it.
If a customer cannot open their conversation, Contact support.
