Choose the questions on an application form
Set which questions applicants answer and what happens to their files.
Hiring is marked Coming soon. Only Magpie administrators can access it.
Every job has its own application form. Applicants do not need a Magpie account. Open a job and find Application questions.
Built-in questions
Full name and Email address are always required. Phone number, Resume and Cover letter can each be Not asked, Optional or Required. New jobs ask for a resume.
Added questions
Select Add a question, enter the question, and choose an answer type: short answer, long answer, link, number, date, yes or no, a list or choice question, or a file upload. Choice questions need one choice per line. Change an added question's wording or whether it is required in place. Use Up and Down to reorder added questions. Removing a question stops asking it. Answers that applicants already submitted keep the question's wording.
Do not ask for information the team has no reason to collect, such as birth date or health information.
Files
Applicants can upload PDF, Word, text and image files up to 10 MB each. Files are stored privately. Only team members who can open Hiring can download them, from the candidate's page. A file is not available at a public address.
After someone applies
The applicant sees a confirmation on the job page. If Confirmation email is on in Hiring → Settings, Magpie also emails them. The email says the application was received. It does not promise a response time.
Applicants who submit the same form twice, for example by refreshing the page, create one application. Magpie accepts up to 10 applications an hour from one connection and discards submissions that fill a hidden field.
When someone applies again with the same email address, Magpie adds an application to the existing candidate. It does not change the candidate's saved name.
