A count corrects a pool's stock to what is there.

Start a count

On Counts, choose Start a count, or choose Count this pool on a pool. Choose the pool and, to count one section at a time, a category. The count lists every item with stock, a minimum or an order-up-to level in the pool, and each lot of an item with Lots or batches turned on. Each line has an Expected quantity: what Inventory held for it when the count started.

With Hide the expected quantities ticked, people counting see each item but not its expected quantity. Team admins still see it.

Count

Type what you find for each line, in the unit shown, and choose Save as often as you like. A line left empty is not counted and is not changed. To count an item that is not on the list, choose it under Add an item found and choose Add to the count; the counts already typed are saved first.

Hand it in

Save and hand in finishes the count. Each counted line is corrected by the difference between what you counted and its expected quantity when the count started, so stock received or used after the count started keeps that change. Start the count just before counting, or count while stock is not moving.

If a line differs by more than the percentage set in Settings under Review counts that differ by, or stock was found where none was recorded, stock is corrected only when a team admin approves the count. A team admin can Approve and correct stock or send it back with Count again and a note. Magpie does not notify team admins, so tell one when a count is handed in for review. A team admin's own count is corrected when handed in.

Cancel count stops a count without changing stock. The count stays in Counts, marked as cancelled.
