The Logbook keeps notes that matter across shifts at a location, such as a new delivery time or a machine to keep an eye on. Everyone who works at a location can write in it; auditors can read it.

Add a note

Choose Add note on Today or on Logbook. Write the note, choose the location when there is more than one, then choose what it is about and how long to show it. Tick Important to show it first on Today.

A note is about one of these: Note, Equipment, Supplies, Delivery, Customer or service, Safety, Process change or Announcement. Only shift leads and managers can write an announcement.

Show it decides how long the note stays on Today:

  • Today only: on its business day.
  • Until each person has read it: on each person's Today until they choose Mark as read, for up to 14 days. The person who wrote it has read it already.
  • Until it is resolved: on everyone's Today until the person who wrote it, or a shift lead, chooses Mark resolved.
  • Standing instruction: until the person who wrote it, or a shift lead, chooses Stop showing. Only shift leads and managers can write one.

On its own business day a note is listed under Logbook today. From the next business day, a note that is still shown is listed under From earlier shifts, with its Mark as read, Mark resolved or Stop showing button. The same buttons are beside each note on Logbook.

Marking a note as read does not resolve what it describes. Every note stays in the logbook, resolved ones included.

Find a note

Logbook lists the notes at the selected location, important ones first and then the newest, with who wrote each and when. Search their text, or narrow them by what they are about or by dates. With more than one location, choose another location or Every location.

Hand over a shift

On Today, choose More, then End shift and hand over. The page lists the location's checklists that have opened and are not finished, and its open incidents. Write notes for the next shift if you have any, and choose Save handoff.

The handoff is saved in the logbook as an important note, with your notes and those two lists as they were. It is shown on each person's Today until they mark it as read, for up to 14 days. Nothing is marked done by ending a shift: the checklists and incidents stay open for the next shift.
