Proposal starters, saved sections and the price list
Start proposals from Magpie's starters or your own, keep sections to reuse, and keep a price list to add lines from.
Starters, saved sections and the price list belong to Personal or to the selected team. Using any of them copies it into the proposal, so changing a starter, a saved section or a price later does not change a proposal already made.
Magpie's starters
Starters lists Magpie's starters: complete proposals for kinds of work such as website design and build, branding, consulting, photography or a monthly retainer, a short Quote for trades and quick jobs, and a blank one. Each has sections, sample text and example prices, marked for you to replace (see Write a proposal).
Start a proposal makes a proposal from one. Copy to your starters makes it a team starter you can change.
Your starters
Save as starter, in a draft's File menu or a sent proposal's More menu, makes a starter from it. The starter keeps the sections, prices and payment schedule, and the proposal's details: follow-ups, what happens when the work starts, automatic payment for recurring invoices and showing it in Client Portal. It does not keep the client, recipients, activity or the values of fields, which stay as fields.
A team starter opens in the same editor as a proposal, without sending. Use starter starts a proposal from it, and you can choose the client there. Edit details renames and describes it and sets what proposals made from it start with. Its File menu duplicates, archives or deletes it. An archived starter is not offered for new proposals.
New starter on the Starters page adds a starter from a JSON document in the proposal format (see Create a proposal by pasting JSON).
Locked sections
A team admin can lock a section of a team starter with Lock for members in the section's ⋯ menu. In proposals made from the starter, only team admins can change, hide or delete a locked section. Use it for terms that must not change.
Saved sections
Keep as saved section in a section's ⋯ menu keeps a copy of it under a name. Add section and Insert in the editor list the saved sections; adding one copies it into the proposal. A saved pricing section can only be added to a proposal in the same currency.
Saved sections lists them. Select a name to rename it; Archive stops offering it.
Price list
Price list holds prices to add to pricing sections: a name, a description, a unit, a price, a currency, a tax rate and how it is billed. Select a value to change it. Drag a row by its grip, or use Up and Down, to put the list in order. Add price adds one, and Import prices adds several from a JSON document. Importing only adds prices; it never changes the ones already in the list.
In a pricing section, Add from the price list offers the prices in the proposal's currency.
